I got this recipe from my Grandma. Every time she would make this snack, my husband would devour it! So Grandma decided that it was a must to share it with me. Otherwise, what would my poor husband eat?!?!?! (Are all Grandma’s like that? LOL. LOVE her! She’s always worried that nobody eats enough!!!)
So, I accepted the recipe. And I was surprised at how easy and quickly this could be made!
Recipe:
3 Cups Cheerios
3 Cups Chex Mix (You can use rice or corn.)
1/2 Cup Cashews
1/2 Cup M&M’s
1 Bag White Chocolate Chips
1/2 Tablespoon Shortening (I used Canola Oil.)
Pour all the dry ingredients (Cheerios, Chex Mix, Cashews, and M&M’s) into a LARGE bowl! You’re going to need room to stir later so don’t use too small a bowl. (Trust me. I’ve tried. It’s messy!)
Melt the White Chips and Shortening (or oil) in a double boiler until completely melted.
Pour the melted chocolate onto the snack mix.
Stir gently until the chocolate is evenly covering the entire mixture.
Dump onto wax paper. Spread out into a line/row.
Let the mixture set. Usually takes about 3 hours. (Although, my husband has been known to “test” it out before it’s set…..) Then you can gently break into “clumps” of whatever size you prefer. If your house is anything like mine, it won’t matter what size you choose anyway because it won’t last long!
Enjoy! 🙂
I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
