Ryan was recently sent an Eversmoke cigarette kit to try out. Eversmoke makes electronic cigarettes. If you aren’t familiar with them, they are an alternative to traditional cigarettes. E-cigarettes don’t contain tobacco, and nothing is burned, so there is no smoke involved. Instead, they use liquid nicotine and when using them you exhale water vapor. Seems how there is no smoke, they are able to be used in public places that have banned traditional cigarettes. They are also believed to be a healthier alternative seems how no smoke or tobacco is involved.

Eversmoke offers both reusable e-cigarettes (where you buy replacement cartridges) and disposable e-cigarettes. For our review we were sent the reusable starter kit that is called the Eversmoke Basic Starter Kit. This kit includes everything that you need to get started with e-cigarettes including the e-cig battery, 5 cartridges (equal to 5 packs of cigarettes), a wall charger, a USB charger and a users manual. This kit sells for $59.99 and has a few options. For example, you can choose between an automatic battery or a manual one as well as which color you’d like your battery to be. There are 10 flavors to select from and five strengths (the lowest being completely free of nicotine). Ours also had a member card included which is the size of a credit card and explains how your Eversmoke e-cigarette is not a traditional cigarette and should be able to be used in places where smoking is banned.

In my opinion, it’s awesome that Eversmoke offered five levels of nicotine for each flavor. Many people switch to e-cigarettes so that they can slowly wean themselves off of nicotine. Seems how you can order different strengths, it makes it easy to slowly step away from nicotine. Ryan used to smoke a very popular brand of cigarettes that are known for being fairly strong, so one of the ways that he has struggled with e-cigarettes is in finding cartridges that are strong enough for him. He was impressed with how strong the “bold” 24 MG cartridges in the classic tobacco flavor were. Since the Eversmoke e-cigarette arrived here a couple of weeks ago, Ryan has completely quit smoking traditional cigarettes and hasn’t experienced any  withdrawal or cravings for traditional cigarettes as Eversmoke has done the trick for him. Of course, this is awesome and because of that we’re really happy with the Eversmoke e-cigarette. I also like how the kit includes a USB and wall charger. The USB charger can be used on your PC or it can be plugged into the wall charger to be used with any regular plug in. We have a car charger that allows for a USB plug in so we can even charge the e-cig in our truck.

Before switching to an e-cigarette, Ryan didn’t smoke very many real cigarettes. On an average day at home, he might smoke four or five. However, he would smoke a lot more if we were running errands or were at a social event. Being in the car is a big trigger for him to want to smoke. So while he was happy using just the e-cig at home, I was worried that it might not be “enough” if we were in the car. Yet, one day when we ran errands and even had some congested traffic to put up with (yet another smoking trigger for Ryan) he did fine with just the e-cig. However, it’s been less than a month and he finished all five of the cartridges a few days ago. (This is why no cartridges are in my photos – we threw them away once finished, sorry!). So, I’m not sure if the 1 cartridge = 1 pack is inaccurate, of if he puffs on the e-cigarette way more often than he did traditional cigarettes. Though, I don’t see him with his e-cigarette a lot so I think the ratio is a bit off.

When he told me that his cartridges were out, he asked me to go ahead and get the next step down in nicotine levels which is of course really exciting. Another smoking trigger for Ryan is my dad, who has smoked for 50+ years and always asks Ryan to step outside and smoke with him at family gatherings. He loves my dad and likes to spend that time with him, so I think even if Ryan gets to where he is not smoking anymore, he’ll get some of the zero nicotine cartridges and will then be able to “smoke” in social situations so he doesn’t have to give that up. I think this has been a great step for Ryan & I am thankful that Eversmoke helped us get here.
