Exederm created a product line for ultra sensitive skin or people who have eczema or dermatitis.  This company uses the sensible approach to skincare by making products without using unnecessary chemicals.  They say it’s best to use less irritants and go with the Ultra Sensitive motto.  I was sent three products to test out and review. The Cleansing Baby Bath, Intensive Baby Moisturizer, and the Exederm Flare Control Cream.

The first product I grabbed to try right away was the Intensive Baby Moisturizer. My son is 10 months old and has had a weird looking red (rash?) area on his stomach for a couple months now.  It appeared after he had two doses of an antibiotic when he was in the hospital.  I noticed it right away so I discontinued the antibiotics.   It looks almost “scaly” like. I’ve tried multiple lotions, creams, and concoctions to help get rid of this. Nothing has improved it in the least. After the first application, I thought maybe I was just seeing things. His stomach looked a lot less “irritated” and red. I asked my husband to come look but he wasn’t sure since he doesn’t really pay attention to that sort of thing. Even when he changes a diaper, it’s a race against a squirmy baby and we usually lose. There is precious few seconds to get him cleaned up much less, a chance to examine anything. However, I continued to put the Intensive Baby Moisturizer on him daily and after about 4 days, it seems to be gone.  The Intensive Baby Moisturizer is suitable for children of all ages.

The next product I received was the Cleansing Baby Bath.  I liked the fact that the smell was very mild.  The Cleansing Baby Bath does not contain any fragrances, colors, dyes, parabens, lanolin, SLS, SLES, propylene glycol, formaldehyde, or phthalates.  This seemed very gentle on my baby’s skin.  Perhaps this product helped aid in the clearing up of his skin issue.  The Cleansing Baby Bath does not bubble or “look” like the products you purchase in the stores but it does clean which is the important part.  Anything that will clean baby safely without irritating their sensitive skin is best.  This Cleansing Baby Bath is also suitable for children of all ages.

The last product I was sent to test is the Flare Control Cream.  My husband gets dry patchy skin on his legs every Winter.  This gets very painful for him.  Once Spring hits (which it hasn’t fully yet in MN!), it starts to clear up on its own.  He has been to the doctor and was given a very expensive prescription, which does clear it up, but it would cost hundreds of dollars every Winter to keep it gone.  So after using the first tube of the prescription, he has chosen to forgo the cream and just deal with the pain.  We did have a little warm weather a couple weeks ago so the problem areas have slowly started to clear but this cream seems to be aiding the process along.  I am hoping that we continue to see this benefit and can just invest in some more Flare Control Cream which is much more affordable than the expensive prescription from the doctor.  The Flare Control Cream goes on easily and blends in well.  It is not greasy at all which is great.
