If you’ve ever been on a restrictive, grain-free diet, like the Paleo Diet, the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, or even just a gluten-free diet, you know how hard it can be to find pre-made, convenient food items. JK Gourmet specializes in grain-free food. Every item on their website is grain-free, and almost all items comply with the Paleo, or Specific Carbohydrate Diet, and all items are gluten free. Not to mention, they’re just plain healthy.
I received the following items from JK Gourmet to review:
The JK Gourmet Grain-Free Granola, the Nuts & Raisins, and Cranberry Cashew flavors, the Almond Flour Cookie Mix, Almond Flour, and the Nuts & Seeds, Nuts & Cranberries, and Nuts & Blueberries granola bars.
The very first item I tried out was the JK Gourmet Grain-Free Granola. I tried it with some almond milk, but it would be great with any kind of milk. Here is the Nuts & Raisins Granola.
I am a big fan of “normal” granola, so I wasn’t sure if I would like this much, but I was hooked after two bites. It’s really delicious, and very healthy! Here’s the ingredient list for the Nuts & Raisins Granola: sunflower seeds, raisins, unsweetened coconut, walnuts, almonds, honey, pecans, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds. There are no preservatives, no grains, nothing unhealthy about it! And it’s yummy! I loved eating the granolas with milk, but I also liked it with yogurt, or I even just ate it plain as a snack.
The granola bars were also really yummy. Here’s a picture of the Nuts & Blueberries granola bar:
As you can see, it’s made out of all natural ingredients. The bars were a bit sweeter than the granola itself, but I found that pretty nice, it was a great replacement for the normally unhealthy granola bars that many people eat. I would take one as a snack between classes, and it was so much more filling than “normal” granola bars. These granola bars, just like everything else from JK Gourmet, are completely grain free.
I also used the Almond Flour. Almond flour is a great flour substitute, and it works for so many things. I really liked the JK Gourmet almond flour, it was ground very finely. Some almond flour is a bit more like almond meal, and ends up a bit chunky, but this wasn’t the case with the JK Gourmet almond flour. I love to use almond flour for breading. I used it in making meatloaf, and as breading for some chicken nuggets. One tip with almond flour is to keep it in the freezer. It lasts a lot longer that way. The almond flour is also great for baking.
I made up the Almond Flour Cookie Mix. You get to add whatever item you like to the cookie mix. You could add raisins, or some other dried fruit. I went the more unhealthy route, and chose chocolate chips. Here’s the mix in the process:
The directions are very easy to follow. Just add some ingredients, mix the dough, and you’re done! The dough comes out a bit more wet, and sticky than normal cookie dough. It took a little while to get the hang of rolling them, when it came time to put them on the cookie sheet, but it didn’t take long to adjust.
Here are the baked cookies:
They look yummy right? Well, they were yummy! The cookies came out soft, and chewy, just how I like my cookies. However, if that’s not what you like, they also had directions for making them crunchy. The directions said to use parchment paper over the cookie sheet. I did not do that, and a couple of the cookies stuck to the cookie sheet, but overall they turned out fine. My fiancĂ© really liked the cookies, and he’s generally not too fond of gluten-free, or grain-free baked items. This cookie mix is a great way to enjoy cookies if you’re on a grain free, or gluten free diet, or if you just want a healthier alternative.
Overall, I really liked these items, and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for some convenient grain free, or gluten free food, or just some healthy food items!

For being grain-free, those cookies look AWESOME! I am not surprised though, most of the time I find the “healthier” foods taste way better than the fattier versions.
That looks pretty yummy! It’s so great that those who go grain-free have so many options now.
