Finding and purchasing a good stroller that you will be happy with can be an overwhelming and daunting task. There are so many choices, options, prices, and accessories. We have owned quite a few strollers during the past 8 years of being parents  and years previous to that when I did daycare and have learned the hard way that you do get what you pay for.

I was sent a gorgeous red Stokke Scoot to test out and review for you. The first thing my husband said as he pulled the Scoot out of the box was, “Wow, this is one well-made stroller.”  The pictures definitely did not do the Stokke Scoot justice.  While it looks like a nice stroller from the pictures, I want to convey to you just how sturdy, well made, and functional this stroller really is.  The Scoot was very easy to assemble.  We were able to remove it from the box, lay out the pieces, and have it assembled in less than 10 minutes.  My husband tends to assemble first, then read the directions if things don’t go as planned.  He was able to assemble the Scoot without the use of the directions.

The Scoot has a lot of great features.  My favorite would probably be the two way seating.  I love having the option to have my child facing towards me or switching them around as they grow and letting them see the world.  The Scoot seat lifts off with the push of two grey buttons on the back of it.  Then you just slide it right back on till you hear the click and see the “buttons” on the side turn green which means the seat is securely locked on.  Very simple.  The Scoot also has a higher seating position that most strollers.  While it is not as high as their Xplory stroller can go, it is still a nice height.  Stokke has listed the Scoot as their Compact Connection Stroller.  Weighing in at 26#, it’s their lightest stroller and I am able to lift it in and out of the vehicle fairly easily.

The Scoot also has a one hand fold that is quite easy to do once you figure it out.  You can fold the Scoot with the seat on facing either direction.  The front of the seat flips up and exposes the “button” on the bar below that you push and turn a little and the stroller collapses down.  It’s really quite slick and shocked me a little the first time I did it.  I couldn’t believe how fast and easy it was.  I have owned a different stroller (from a different brand/company) in the past that was so hard to fold that you would have to resort to practically wrestling with it to get it to collapse.  So the Scoot really caught me off guard with the fast smooth fold.  A great fold is a very important feature to have in a stroller.  There is nothing worse than being stuck in a parking lot fighting with your stroller when you need to be somewhere else or it’s either raining or snowing.  (Been there, done that.  It was not a fun day.)

A feature to mention that may be very important if you are tall.  The Scoot does have a height adjustable telescopic handle.  Since I’m short, this is not a big deal for me.  However, I was able to observe a tall mom (about 6 feet) stooped over her umbrella stroller handles and was looking very uncomfortable.  I told her about the Scoot handle and she tested it out.  This was the first stroller she had ever seen that could accommodate her comfortably.  She was very impressed.  When I measured, the handle extends out over 4″ which makes a huge difference in the height of the handle.  The Scoot also comes with a fairly large basket underneath.  I can easily slide our diaper bag in and out of the basket without any issues.  I like that it has such easy access to the basket.  You can access the basket from the sides or from the front and back (alternating depending on which direction you have the seat facing.)  There is also a visor attached to the canopy that can be flipped out for added protection against the sun or wind.  It flips easily back in when you no longer need it or can even be zipped off completely.

Now to talk safety. Stokke is known for safe quality products and the Scoot follows that standard.  They have designed the Scoot with lockable swivel wheels which is a great feature when you may be on some rough terrain.  However, the most important safety feature I feel is a 5 point harness, which the Scoot has.  The buckle clicks together easily and securely.  Our two year old has no idea on how to undo it but it’s very easy for my husband and I to release the buckle.  There is also a footbrake that locks the back wheels.  It’s very easy to lock and unlock, yet has a nice sturdy “click” so you know it is a secure lock.  I even tested it barefoot because in the Summer when I wear sandals, I want a stroller that will allow me to lock the wheels wearing them.

Finally, I thought I’d mention some accessories.  I think my favorite would be the cup holder.  I bring my water bottle everywhere with me so I like to have a place to put it.  The cup holder is nice and secure and does not twist or turn so I will not have to worry about my cup falling out.  The Scoot also comes equipped with hooks for the Changing Bag.  The Changing Bag is a really nice diaper bag.  It is sold separately but if you are in the market for a bag, I would suggest checking this one out.  The Scoot did, however, come with a bug net and rain cover as you can see in the picture of all the parts above.

We are very happy with the Stokke Scoot.  It pushes like a dream, sturdy design, functional, fashionable, and seems to be the cream of the crop for lighter weight every day use stroller.  Our 5 year old loves pushing it so much that he pushed our 2 year old all over Sams Club with it.  He wouldn’t let anyone else push because he was having so much fun.  If I had to say anything bad about the Scoot, I would maybe think that I would have to purchase a head support if using for a newborn.  However, our son is already past that stage so I can’t even test that theory at this time.  The Scoot comes in an array of colors.  (Brown, Red, Dark Navy, Purple, Beige, and Black Melange are in the current line up.) You can connect with Stokke on Facebook and Twitter.  Don’t forget to register your Scoot if you buy one, it earns you a 3 year warranty if you do.  We really like this stroller and think that you will too.
