Beauty Encounter’s wide selection of quality L’Oreal foundation products at affordable prices make them a great choice for experimenting with different formulations, tints and techniques, especially if you are new to foundation.
Wearing foundation makeup can be one of the best ways to give your face the look of a flawless complexion, while you draw attention to your best features. However, you will only be able to achieve this result if you have selected the right product to match your skin. Choose a foundation that suits your skin type as well as the color. L’Oreal foundation, for instance, has a range of different options that will suit everything from dry to oily complexions.
Formulation is important, too. Consider the type of skin care products you like to use and use with regularity. Do you like creams, gels, powders, or liquids? Some work better for certain skin types than others, but here are a few examples of L’Oreal foundations and the qualities they possess:
- Mineral powder foundations: These types of foundations, like L’Oreal Bare Naturale Powdered Mineral Foundation, are all the rage for a reason. They are easy and quick to apply; provide smooth, even coverage; and can be easier to tolerate for those with sensitive skin or oily skin.
- High coverage, wrinkle-reducing liquids: If you want to even your skin tone and minimize the appearance of wrinkles, try a product like L’Oreal Visible Lift Extra Coverage Line Minimizing Makeup.
- Blendable cream-based foundations: These lightly whipped creams, like L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Compact Makeup provide better coverage than some liquids and remain moist and natural, not cakey.
Once you have an idea of the type of product you’d like to use for your skin, formulation and coverage type, here are some pointers for choosing the your perfect match for color:
- Determine your skin’s undertone: pink, peach, yellow, brown, etc. Once you know it, choose a foundation with that same undertone.
- Match your jaw line: Use the color of your jaw line as the guide for choosing the precise shade of your foundation makeup. The reason that this is the place to match is that it is a location partway between your face and neck in its natural color. As you will need the foundation to match both your face and neck, the jaw line presents the perfect shade between the two.
Last, but not least, remember that foundation is a cosmetic, not a miracle in a bottle (or compact). The key is shooting for a product that complements you, not recreates you!

I don’t think I’ve ever used this particular Loreal foundation before but it looks great! I have such a hard time using foundation in our humidity but going to give it a try! Thanks for the recommendation!

Because my skin color changes depending on the time of year I need to go and make sure I’m getting the right color for the season every time I replace my foundation. I love these tips! It’ll make the next time I go out and purchase foundation a heck of a lot easier.

Finding the right color is actually one of the main issues for me when it comes to choosing makeup. I stick with what I know out of fear of not getting the right shade!

I *love* L’Oreal foundation! It’s my current foundation and gives me great coverage and is very light.
Thanks for the great tips. I’d love to try one of their cream compacts.
