HALO has now come out with another ingenious product. The HALO SwaddleChange. This product is essentially a diaper changing pad cover with an adjustable swaddle wrap for your baby’s arms built right in.  This helps keep your baby’s hands under control for easier diaper changes.

I received a sage colored SwaddleChange from HALO so I could review it and give you my honest opinion. Upon opening the package, I was pleased with the soft velour feeling material. It would be absolutely perfect and gentle on a newborns skin.  The HALO SwaddleChange easily fits onto most contoured changing pads. It has elastic sides and a nice firm piece of elastic underneath to keep it secure and tight. This makes for a great fit and installation was a breeze. The swaddle wrap is adjustable using velcro and easily accommodates different size infants. It is recommended for use up to 12 months of age. Although, if you no longer want to swaddle your child’s arms you can just leave it open and still continue to use this changing pad past that point. No need to invest in another one as this will still work fine.

I have a 3 month old niece and an 8 month old nephew who this works well with.  They both laid very nice and loved being swaddled in.  Neither one had any complaints!  I did swaddle their arms both up and down and either way works.  So you can do whatever your baby prefers.  I also used it on our 10 month old son.  The 10 month old did not care for this and was able to get his arms out quite proficiently by himself.   So I would recommend the SwaddleChange for about 9 months and under, however, every child is different so you may be able to use this longer with certain children.  I think my nephew would still be a happy camper using this long after 10 months.  One other note to mention.  The slots for the safety belt to come through are located on the sides of the cover.  Our cushions straps are in the middle.  So by the time we thread them back down the side and threw the slots, there is not a whole lot extra left to buckle the baby in.  Just something to keep in mind when purchasing your changing pad.  I don’t know if  all changing pad straps are made this way or if it is just ours.

The SwaddleChange has been awarded the PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved) Seal of Approval and I think you can see why. It’s a very nice feature to have in a changing pad cover. HALO Innovation’s SleepSack Swaddle has become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets. HALO has applied this same comforting concept to diaper changing to create the new HALO SwaddleChange. You can read more about HALO’s Hospital Program on their website.

You can purchase your own SwaddleChange on Amazon for yourself or a friend.  In my opinion, this would make a great baby shower gift.  Most new moms would love to have such a lush place to change their brand new baby.   Be sure to connect with HALO on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.  One Emily Reviews reader will win their own SwaddleChange in their choice of color right here.  This giveaway is open to the US and Canada and will end at 11:59 PM Eastern on May 20, 2013.  Enter in the giveaway widget below.
