When I first had heard of Vitacost, I thought it was an online retailer of vitamins and supplements. While it’s certainly true that Vitacost has a large selection of vitamins and supplements available, that isn’t the entirety of what they offer. I was recently given a gift card to Vitacost so that I could review the ordering process and tell you guys about the site.
I’m not one to really use vitamins or supplements at all, so I had to peek around the website to make sure I could find stuff I’d be interested in getting, and it turns out – I had nothing to worry about. Vitacost has tons of items that are useful for my life and I think you could all say the same thing. If you do use vitamins and supplements, you’ll definitely find what you’re looking for a Vitacost. However, anyone who uses deodorant, toothpaste, body wash or lotion will find stuff for them, too.
If you’re interested in switching to eco-friendly and/or natural personal care items, you’ll be thrilled with the selection at Vitacost. Part of what I ordered fell into that category, including Method’s body wash that is called pure naked moisturizing body wash. I selected the Magnolia scent and this stuff is my new favorite body wash. It smells amazing and leaves my skin nice and smooth while still feeling clean, and leaving no residue on my skin. I also ordered EO liquid soap which claims to work as a body wash, shampoo or to be used in a bath. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve really liked other EO brand products and I loved how the big 32oz bottle was $8.99. I also ordered some Seventh Generation brand trash bags to try out but we haven’t opened those either. Typically, I would be worried that eco-friendly trash bags might not hold up as well but these had 4.2 out of 5 stars with 10 reviews on Vitacost so I felt pretty safe giving them a try.
The other items that I got didn’t fall into the natural or eco-friendly category, but were just everyday essentials that I knew we could use such as secret deodorant, bodycology body wash, and some lotion. Yes, it looks like a ton of body wash but trust me, we won’t use it all at once. I can usually find oral care goods for great prices with coupons, and same often goes for dish soap and hand soap but I struggle to find great deals on body wash so I used this gift card as a chance to stock up on different brands of body wash while also being able to try out new and different products. The only body wash that I have opened so far as the Method brand but I absolutely love it so if any of the other products make me as happy as that one, I will be thrilled with my Vitacost order.
In the past, when I’ve been sent soaps or liquid products in the mail, about 50% of the time they leak during shipping. I thought it was absolutely genius that Vitacost packaged my products in a box that had cardboard dividing “walls” between the items so that all products were vertical and then surrounded by tight “walls” of cardboard so that they can’t tip over sideways. As an added security measure, the products were thoroughly taped around the sealing areas of the bottles. So, nothing leaked. Their detailed packaging methods showed me that they really know what they’re doing.
I got everything pictured for $54. Seems how my order was over $50, that included free shipping. I thought that was a decent price considering the convenience of having it delivered to my door. If you value that convenience and are willing to pay slightly more than mass-merchandiser prices (but not much more), I have no doubt that you’ll be pleased with Vitacost.
Although it’s a pretty unique gift idea, I think that sending a Vitacost health/personal care package to new moms or an ill person could be a super practical, thoughtful gift if they are struggling to get out of the house on their own. Vitacost even has baby care items including diapers and pet goods (including food) so you could provide those items as well.
