Our kids are fascinated by the night sky. Actually, so are my husband and I. We have spent many evenings staring up and talking about what we see. Once, a couple years ago at the Children’s Museum, they had a program where we went and lay down in a teepee and they projected a presentation on the ceiling and explained what we were looking at. After that day, we were all even more intrigued. The kids have repeatedly requested a telescope so they could view the moon and stars better. Well, the day has finally come. C.Crane sent us their Celestron Travel Scope 70 for review.
The Celestron Travel Scope 70 was designed with ease of travel in mind. This telescope has a 70mm Refractor and also comes with both 10mm and 20mm eye pieces and boasts a 5 x 24 Finderscope to aid in spotting distant objects quickly and easily. The Celestron Travel Scope 70 also comes with an aluminum, full-size photographic tripod that the telescope is mounted on. It allows you to easily swivel and turn the telescope to get the best angles to view what you are looking at.
The Travel Scope 70 was easy to assemble. With our handy helpers, it only took a matter of 5 to 10 minutes to secure the telescope to the tripod and attach the Finderscope. The telescope and all the pieces came packed in a sturdy backpack that I’m excited to have for both storage and easy travel purposes. The backpack is well made with pockets and straps inside to help keep the microscope protected and secure.
Now that we were all set, it was time to test the Scope out. Even though it was still daytime, the kids were excited and we couldn’t wait till evening to give it a try. The Celestron Travel Scope 70 was easy to adjust so you can get a bright, crisp, and sharp image. We set out to try to view the Eagle’s nest that is located near here but the trees were too thick so see it. So we settled for buildings, trees, and regular birds.
Once night fell, we headed outside with our Scope. There were lots of clouds so we had to wait patiently for the moon to come out from behind. One it showed itself, it was really neat to view it through the Scope. You could see some added details and shadows that you were unable to see with the naked eye. Unfortunately, there were no stars the first night. We still spent quite awhile enjoying the evening and taking turns viewing the moon.
We are definitely enjoying the Celestron Travel Scope 70 and it has been used daily since it arrived.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

So cool! My boys would have a blast with this scope!!
That looks like an awesome telescope. We spend a lot of time looking at the stars as well so this looks perfect for our family. I like how portable it is.
