Costumes

Our kids love to dress up and they really love Halloween. (Although it definitely does not need to be Halloween for Batman, Princesses, Doctors, and such to spend the day in our home. Or come with me to the grocery store for that matter.  I can’t be alone in this can I?)    So when I received the chance to partner with Mr. Costumes, a company that was established in 2008 but has executives with over 50 years combined experience in the industry, I was elated.  Mr. Costumes has fast become a leading online costume retailer in the US and with good reason.  They carry 1,000’s of products which also includes the best selling and popular costumes and disguises.  Many of their products are stocked and ready to ship from their massive 40,000 square foot warehouse in Georgia.

I headed over to Mr. Costumes to check out the inventory.  I thought that this would be a quick easy decision, however, I spent over an hour and was no closer to deciding what my favorite was.  I was impressed.  Costumes don’t typically impress me as most seem cheaply made and flimsy.  So many of Mr. Costume’s inventory struck me as much higher quality than what I am used to finding at the big box stores.  So I called it a night shortly before midnight and figured I’d enlist my children to help in the morning.

Morning came.  I now have my 6 and 8 year old standing beside me and we easily navigate the Mr. Costumes website.  I start with the girl costumes since I figured my daughter would choose a princess quickly and be done.  This was not the case.  It seemed like each costume we passed, she wanted me to write down to revisit.  (Not so much help I guess.)  So I start plan B.  Back to the top.  I told her to choose her favorite costume from those that were on the screen.  She chose Little Red Riding Hood.  So I mark a note.  We scroll down and she stops me continuously as each row holds another amazing looking costume.  Each time, I ask her if she likes it better than Red.  Each time, the answer is no.  By the end of the page and an hour later, we have a winner.  Little Red Riding Hood it is.

Our Little Red Riding Hood costume arrived in a garment bag type packaging.  I was immediately impressed by the quality as I pulled the pieces from the bag.  The Elite Girls Little Red Riding Hood Kids Costume includes the beautiful peasant style dress with attached apron, petticoat, and adorable velvety feeling red cape.  I have never seen such a well made children’s costume before.  Our daughter is completely thrilled.  This is the first year that I gave her free reign on choosing a costume and we couldn’t be more pleased with her choice.  Check out how great Little Red looks.  (The basket was not included.)  This costume is beautifully detailed and gorgeous.

One down and one more to go.  Our 6 year old son was pretty certain he wanted to be a superhero of some sort so we headed over to that section.  The Batman Muscle Chest Kids Costume was in the top row and as soon as his eyes made contact, we had a winner.  Yeah.  I did scroll through the rest of the superhero costumes to make certain that no others caught his eye.  While some did, he was still adamant that Batman #1 was the costume for him.  Perfect.  That only took 5 minutes.

Batman arrived in a plastic bag but you could immediately see a difference from the cheap store bought costumes in bags.  Our son was thrilled.  He couldn’t wait to get the costume on.  The Batman Muscle Chest Kids Costume includes the main jumpsuit with a padded chest and also a cape with a hood/mask combo attached.  Right away, you will notice that Batman has boots on.  This is actually part of the jumpsuit.  They just lay right over the top of your child’s shoes and it makes it look like he’s really wearing Batman boots.  All in all, we really like the costume.  It feels sturdy, well made, and is so adorable.  The only thing I want to mention is that the arms and legs are tighter fitting.  I usually prefer loose fitting so the kids can wear a coat under their costumes, however, I think he will only be able to fit a sweatshirt.  Definitely not a deal breaker.  Batman is here to stay.

So many costumes caught my eye.  Mr. Costumes carries lines for adults including couples, plus-size, women’s, and men’s.  Their children’s costumes include lines for infants, toddlers, and older kids.  Here are some more of my favorites.
