*I was sent a Naturepedic mattress pad in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

Several years ago I read some statistics about how much weight a mattress gains in 10 years time due to sweat, dead skins cells, etc ending up in the mattress itself. Since then, I’ve always kept a washable mattress pad on my bed. I would rather invest money in a nice mattress pad that I can wash, that will protect my mattress than have all of that gunk end up in my mattress itself which is nearly impossible to clean. Yet, finding the perfect mattress pad hasn’t been easy, I feel like I’ve tried out so many that just didn’t stand up. I’ve found that you tend to get what you pay for in regards to mattress pads. I’ve purchased $40 mattress pads that rip before I get them on the bed for the first time. So, I gave up on the cheap ones and started looking around for quality and that’s how I learned about Naturepedic mattress pads .

I had heard of Naturepedic’s crib mattresses and baby bedding products but they also make mattress pads, toppers, etc for kids and adults. They have a quilted mattress pad that comes in sizes twin through cal king is made of organic cotton, is made in the USA and is machine washable. This all sounded great so I was excited to get the chance to do this review.

As I mentioned above, I’ve tried quite a few mattress pads – I’d say at least six. Yet, when I pulled my Naturepedic mattress pad out of the package I found myself running my hands over the pad and its seams. I immediately felt like this would be the final mattress pad for me. The fabric feels thick and durable, and the edges felt even more durable and thick. The material feels really similar to what the top of a quilted mattress would feel like. So while it’s not really soft, I did lay directly on it one night when my favorite sheets were in the wash and it wasn’t scratchy.

The pad stays on the bed thanks to elastic in each corner of the pad that is pulled under each corner of your mattress. So far, it has stayed in place fairly well but if I could change something about the pad, I would change this because I know elastic can get stretched out over time which has happened with mattress pads that I have had in the past.

I love how the mattress is not just machine washable (an absolute must in my opinion) but can also be thrown into the dryer so it’s really easy to keep clean.
