*I was given an umbrella from Rio Brands for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.
This summer, my dads neighbor moved away and wasn’t interested in having to haul some of his larger belongings. He was nice enough to come over and ask my dad if he wanted some of the items, including a wooden picnic table. My dad accepted the picnic table as he thought it would be nice to sit on outside this summer. My dad’s backyard backs up to a field so there aren’t any trees causing shade, so the picnic table would get really hot from being in the sun all day and wasn’t very enjoyable to sit on until later in the evening.
I accepted the Total Sun Block 7′ Umbrella from Rio Brands for review, thinking it would work nicely with my dads picnic table. The table has a hole in the center for holding patio umbrellas. The umbrella we reviewed has an auger-like device on the bottom that allows it to be twisted into the sand, making this a great umbrella for using at the beach which is what it’s truly designed for but it also worked for my dads picnic table.
The umbrella has been tested to block out 99.8% of UVA and UVB rays from the sun and is a great size for covering my dad’s picnic table and those seated at it. We have been leaving it closed while not in use because one day the wind caught under it and fliped it inside out. Thankfully, no damage was done and it very easily folded back into the right position.
If we were to head to the beach, I’d love knowing that i could simply grab it and toss it into the back of the car and use it at the beach as well.

Wow what a great umbrella! My Grandma always has trouble being directly in the sun (as most would be). This would be an excellent umbrella for her when she wants to be outside!
