My husband and I usually take turns reading chapter books (BoxCar Children and LampLighter Series are some of our favorites) and a Bible story to our children each night before bed. Now that our older two children also know how to read, they will pick up shorter books during the day and read to themselves, me, or their younger brothers. I have always loved reading and I’m thrilled that our children seem to be picking up on my passion as well. To help encourage their reading habits, I like to have a wide variety of books readily available for them to choose from. So when I was offered the chance to review and share “Mr. Blue” by Priscilla Whitaker with you, I was excited to add another story to our collection.
The book “Mr. Blue” was released in April of 2013 and is inspired by a real Great Blue Heron that would visit the pond in Priscilla Whitaker’s backyard. Priscilla lovingly gave him the name Mr. Blue. Because Mr. Blue allowed Priscilla to get so close, she was able to capture some amazing photographs and video footage. With these great close-up shots in hand, Priscilla authored the book “Mr. Blue” to accompany them.
This book is a beautiful hard cover story that captures many great features of Mr. Blue. I really like that Priscilla makes this book interactive by giving interesting facts and asking questions to the children throughout as well. While illustrated books are nice, books contained real life photographs can really make some stories more real. This is a great informative book that holds the children’s attention well.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
