*I was provided with Hartz products for my dogs in return for this post. All opinions are my own.
Back in August I was able to review some Hartz dog shampoo & toys that were nice. Did you know Hartz also makes dog treats, collars, bowls, toothbrushes & paste, puppy pee pads and more? This time around, I was able to try out several more Hartz products.
My dogs haven’t shown any interest in chew toys at all unless something edible is related to them. So I knew the Hartz Ruff Rewards kibble or treat dispensing toy would be a hit and I was right. The one we were sent is aimed at dogs who are 50+lbs and mine are 20 and 25lbs, but it doesn’t really matter in our case as my dogs don’t chew on it, they just bat it around to make their food come out. It’s a fun way to switch things up and it keeps my dogs occupied for a few minutes. Some dogs gobble food to quickly which can cause stomach upset – it’s a great way to force your dog to eat slower.
I thought my dogs might also enjoy the Chew N Clean toys because they combine a regular chew toy with an edible treat. The edible part is really hard, so I think my dogs didn’t realize it was edible, but they didn’t take to these, though I imagine a dog that enjoys other nylon based chew toys would.
The fur fetcher does a great job of removing hair. Just a few swipes over my dogs’ backs covers the brush with hair. I always use this on them before their monthly bath to get their loose hair off first. Both dogs get really excited when they see me bring this out, it seems to give them a nice massage or scratch while in use. Frank had a sore spot on his back once and after brushing him with the Fur Fetcher, I realized he was bleeding in that area. So I do recommend being really gentle instead of pushing up against your dog as hard as you would with a regular brush seems how the end can scratch the surface. So, I do take my time to make sure I am gentle with it, but I love how well it works.
We were also sent the Hartz Groomers Best Rubber Dog Brush. From what I’ve read online, this brush does a great job of removing hair on silky, short haired breeds. My pugs don’t have silky hair, but this doesn’t seem to remove tons of hair on them. It does remove some, though. So instead of using it as a de-shedding brush, I use it in the bath tub to rub water and shampoo through their fur to their skin. Just based on how much more their shampoo bubbles up when I scrub them with this brush than it did when I was just washing them with my hands, I think it does a much better job of spreading the soap around and getting them cleaner. They like the scratching feeling that this brush provides which seems to make them enjoy bath time a bit more as well.
Last but not least, we were sent some Hartz smoked pig ears. My dogs are 8 and 9 and they aren’t very aggressive chewers but chewing helps them calm down when they are anxious, so I like to have chew treats around. Most chews last forever because the aren’t aggressive chewers, but these pig ears were a great solution because they ca consume them in one or two chew sessions. They did seem thinner than other pig ears I’ve purchased in the past, but this is a good thing for my older dogs.
Any of these products would be great gifts for your dog this year. They also have a wide selection of dog toys and products for other pets like cats or rabbits that would make nice holiday gifts for pets. You can purchase Hartz products on Amazon or at stores like Walmart, Kmart and Sears.
Win it: Hartz is going to provide a $50 prize package to one winner. Hartz will select the exact products but the winner will provide information about their pet including their pets preferences so that the products are relevant for the winner. Example “I have a 25lb beagle that loves to chew, but we don’t like to give bones or plush toys because he’s too aggressive with them.” The image below is an example of a prize package, but the winner is not guaranteed to receive these specific items.
To enter: fill out the GT form below before 11:59pm EST on 11/16. Giveaway is open to the US.
