Imaginations run rampant when children are at play.  It’s truly amazing to watch the fun things kids can come up with.  While it goes against my nature to let the kids have free rein when they really get into their play, I allow it.  We’ve had carnivals in our living room complete with wall to wall decorations, games, plastic cups with “popcorn” (paper), and “lemonade” (tissue paper).  Our 6 and 8 year old spent an entire day, over six hours, creating this carnival.  The joy on their faces and excitement they had when we all attended the carnival that evening was priceless.  So I am always on the lookout for some great products that encourage the use of imagination.  Manhattan Toy Company has multiple toy lines and I was thrilled to partner with them on their “Imagine I Can” products.

The Imagine I Can Secret Agent Spy Gear includes: a wooden dial code creator, five clue cards to solve using the dial code creator, map, spy agent ID card, spy scope, wooden invisible ink bottle,  wooden finger print powder bottle, and a fabric pouch.  Everything came stored in a cute storage tin.  The kids went straight-away into “spy mode” after we opened the Secret Agent Spy Gear.  Our 8 year old ran for a notebook to solve one the codes.  The dial code creator is fairly easy to use.  It spins effortlessly but since it is smaller, the letters are close together.  While she did a really good job solving the clues, she did have a couple letters wrong.  Even with the two mistakes, she was still able to read what the code message was.  After the kids worked on the codes, they decided to play incognito.  Sunglasses were found to accomplish this.  For hours, the kids were darting around the house, building spy forts, and having a really great time.

The Imagine I Can Pirate Treasures includes: a wooden compass, map, treasure in the form of six wooden yellow coins, eye patch, pirate bandana, wooden sword with a rope belt, and a fabric pouch.  This set also came stored in a nice tin case.  We’ve played pirate before and gone on “treasure hunts” around the house so the kids were ready to dive right in with this set too.  I liked that there were enough pieces to go around.  The bandana and eye patch are really fun accessories to get in the pirate mode but the consensus for the best item is the sword with the rope belt.  I really like that because it’s a rope, any size child can wear it.  Our kids do need help getting it tied on each time though.  I also like that the Imagine I Can Pirate Treasures includes a real working compass.  That gave an extra zap of fun once the kids found out it was real.  Again, this set has brought hours of fun and peals of laughter around our home.
