Growing up, my sister, brother, and I all had Christmas stockings that would be filled with goodies when we awoke on Christmas morning. Even though we knew when to expect them to be filled, we would continue to squish them each morning just in case. Of course, there were times when they appeared to have bulges (and were still empty) which added to our daily fun and anticipation of what Christmas morning would bring. Now that I am a parent, I like to find some fun things to include in our children’s Christmas stockings each year. I was happy to partner with PBS for this review on some stocking stuffer or Christmas gifts ideas.
~Caillou’s Holiday Favorites~
Caillou’s Holiday Favorites is a three pack boxed set that includes “Caillou’s World Of Wonder”, “Caillou’s Winter Wonders”, and “Caillou’s Holiday.” This is a great set to get everyone in the holiday mood. Caillou’s Holidays shares Caillou’s love for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Caillou’s Winter Wonders is a collection of four episodes: Caillou the Snowman, Caillou’s Christmas, It’s Cold Outside, and Winter. Caillou’s World of Wonder joins Caillou in his everyday life as imaginations take over. Lots of pretending and role-playing is sure to spark fun and inspire. Super WHY is a great show that encourages interaction and learning. I am thrilled with the fundamental reading skills the kids are learning while watching. Super WHY encourages children to investigate the alphabet, practice spelling, and looking for answers in a book. Currently available at shopPBS.org for $9.99.
~Dinosaur Train ‘Dinosaurs in the Snow’~
The Dinosaur Train Dinosaurs in the Snow DVD contains eight short episodes with running time a total of about 120 minutes. This is a great educational series where characters search for answers by riding taking a ride on the Dinosaur Train and going through the time tunnel. I love that children are encouraged to make a hypothesis and explore characteristics of animals. Currently available at shopPBS.org for $9.99.

PBS is a station that I have come to know, love, and trust in their children’s programming. Our kids have enjoyed all of the characters and movies above and we look forward to having them in our collection so we can view them time and time again.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

We have these, also, and the Super WHY! ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas DVD has especially received a lot of view-time. The others are great, too!

We never got cable so all these were PBS favorites and I’ve collected a few of these as DVDs. I hope they don’t go out of style since these DVDs are well loved and played often. I love PBS and their adult shows too.
