For this review, International Playthings generously sent me 3 products: the Cool Tools Activity Set by Kidoozie, the Super Saxoflute by Quercetti, the Polar Bear Shoulder Bag by NICI.
First, the Cool Tools Activity Set is a super fun toy. There are 4 tools included: a drill that makes sounds, a screwdriver, a wrench, and a hammer. The activity station itself is designed like a small suitcase/tool box and can store all the tools. The activity station has many interactive parts. There is a shape sorting section with 4 shapes. When a child put the shape in its appropriate place, it’ll say the name of the shape. Then there are gears which spin together and play music. There are also 2 nails which makes a banging sound when hit and when one is hammered down, the other pops up. There are also 5 screws – 2 of which make sounds – that can be manipulated with the screwdriver or the wrench. My daughter LOVES this toy. She is very curious and likes to figure out how things more, what makes sounds, etc. I like that everything can be neatly stored in the tool box and it’s definitely a toy that we bring along when we visit friends or family.
The second toy that we received is the Super Saxoflute. I have to start out by saying that I, as a child, had this very same toy! My siblings and I played with it for countless hours over the years. The way it works is that you get different shapes and sizes of pipes that you connect together to create flutes. It’s both a construction toy and a musical toy! Depending on how you build it, you can actually get a few different notes because some pipes have holes in it just like a regular flute does. My daughter loves building her flute. My only complaint (and I compare with the set I had as a child and that we used for years) is that some of the pieces fit together loosely and although the flute doesn’t break into pieces, it tends to not stay in the shape we created. It’s not a huge deal, I don’t think my daughter is bothered by it at all actually but I expected our flutes to be a little more sturdy. I still think it’s a great toy because it incorporates building and music in a very creative way.
The last item I received is the Polar Bear Shoulder Bag from NICI. Most of you probably know NICI plush toys. They are very popular! They also have a whole range of other products designed with the same animal characters. The shoulder bag that we received is part of their White World collection and it’s totally adorable. It is made of super soft beige fabric (sort of like minky) with a cute smiling polar bear embroidered in the lower corner. Inside is a large compartment made of light blue fabric. The strap is wide and adjustable. It is a good size bag measuring 14” x 10” x 3”. My daughter doesn’t go to school yet but I am planning on using this bag to bring stuff to keep her busy during car rides and we are out at the restaurant or somewhere where there are no toys available. I’ll be able to fit a coloring book, crayons and pens, 1 or 2 books that she likes, little people and cars, etc. It’ll be great to have her stuff separate from the baby’s and it’ll save space in the diaper bag.

This is one of those posts that make me wish I had seen this 5-10 years ago when my kids were little….not sure it they were around then, but my kids would have loved these. Ilove the saxo flute toy especially.
I love toys – especially the kind that are really being smart and educational while my kids are just thinking, “play, fun, fun, play.” I also like knowing that I am going right to the creator of all of these fun things – not even to the middle man – those specific notorious brands you mentioned.
