The Hosts of this Hop have put together a Grand Prize Package for a lucky little one! This Santa’s Little Helper is going to deliver to one lucky reader… a $100 Gift Card to jrfashionista.com and a $100 Gift Card to Pediped.com to get that little one styling, a $75 Gift Card to Hearthsong.com and a $50 GC to Build-a-Bear to satisfy their Toy List, and a Crane USA Adorable Cool Mist Humidifier and Nightlight so they can sleep soundly waiting on St. Nick!

Enter the Grand Prize Here.

The prize here at Emily Reviews is a Slingshot speaker from BlueFlame. This is a really neat device because it’s waterproof, making it safe to bring with you to the beach or the shower. It even has a “slingshot” casing around it that makes it easy to hang over your shower head.

Instead of connecting directly to your phone or mp3 player via cord, it connects via bluetooth. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really even sure what bluetooth was or how it worked. I knew it enabled those in-ear pieces to connect to cell phones but that was the extent of my knowledge. With the help of the small instruction book that came with the Slingshot, I had the device connected and working via bluetooth to my smartphone in less than 5 minutes. Basically, I had to go into my phones menu to find the bluetooth option and then select “find devices” which caused it to list the Slingshot. Once it found the Slingshot, I had to hold down a button on the slingshot for about 5 seconds until it beeped and then the two were connected. From there, I just bring up my music on my phone and hit play and it plays through the Slingshot instead of my phone.

I’ve used the Slingshot in the shower and it works great. From the Slingshot I can raise or lower the volume and flip forwards or backwards if I want to skip or flip through the songs on my phone. Although there is a volume adjustment on the device, you want to make sure your phone (or mp3 player, etc) is set to a reasonable volume as it will go louder overall if my phone is turned up as well. There is also a phone button on the front. If your phone gets a call, the music will stop playing and you can press the phone button to accept the call.

If you want to set the Slingshot on a table or other surface, it has a flat area on the bottom of the speaker itself and the cover to keep it from rocking or rolling. I like being able to listen to music in the shower now but I am also excited to try it out at the beach without worrying about ruining my phone if it gets wet. It also works great just as a regular speaker so I can bring it into the kitchen with me to listen to music while cooking and I can hang it off of the cupboard handle or set it on the counter. Instead of requiring traditional batteries, it recharges (using a cord that is provided with the slingshot) to a USB port to charge. I think the Slingshot Shower Speaker would make a great gift for teens or any other music lover on your list.
