BarkBox is a monthly subscription of dog toys & treats that comes in the mail. When you sign up, you tell BarkBox what size dog you have (small, medium or large, based on weight) and then the 15th of each month they mail out your box and a few days later it arrives to you. The boxes usually contain about 5 items in total. This is our fourth time getting the box and each month we’ve enjoy trying out new products and finding out what surprises were inside our box.

This month, the shipping box was a little small – smaller than our other 3 boxes was so I was a little worried until we opened up the box. It included five items, three edibles and two toys.

febetta

Our box had an Etta Says chew that is the rabbit variety. We had gotten these before but not the rabbit ones. These are crunchy treats that are called chews but they don’t really last long enough to be considered a chew in my opinion. My dogs are slow chewers – taking an hour or so for a 6′ bully stick and they consume these in under 10 minutes. Regardless, they seem to enjoy them.

One bag of treats is from Complete Natural Nutrition – their “Cheese Please” treats that only have one ingredient – cheese. These can be used as treats or crumbled up and added to food to entice your dog into eating if they aren’t feeling up to it. The bag seems kinda small but it contains over 75 treats so they’ll last us a while. They’re only 3 calories per treat. Most of the pieces are about the size of a nickle.

The second bag of treats is from the brand Max and Ruffy’s. These are organic treats made with buckwheat (which is not a grain), blueberries, coconut oil and ginger. These are really small and are just 2 calories per treat making them perfect for training treats. Each bag contains about 290 treats! My dogs seemed really excited about these treats.

febcigar

The first toy in the box was from the brand Loopies. It’s designed to look like a cigar and has a unique design that almost seems like its braided together somehow but its very bendable. It can be used as a fetch toy or it works great as a tug toy because of its shape and how bendable it is. My dogs are both toy snobs and had never gotten a toy in a Barkbox that they liked enough to really play with so I was super excited that our Loopies cigar toy got Frank excited to run around and chase after it.

After having our very first success with the Loopies toy, I was thrilled. I didn’t think there was any chance that both toys in this box would be “winners” after my dogs had snubbed their noses at the toys in all of our previous boxes. So, I was super excited when they both showed an interest in the second toy! The second toy is designed to look like Sushi and is from the brand Sushi Pups. It’s quite small (which I think is why my dogs liked it – they’re very intimidated by normal sized dog toys). It has a squeaker inside and is small enough for my dogs to easily grab it and carry it around.

Overall, we were really excited to have two success stories with the toys this month. It was particularly great timing, too as we had two toys that I bought back in September (a few weeks after adopting Frank and Beans) that they had LOVED but that were finally “killed” this week so we’ve been down to just two toys until today.

The cost of each monthly BarkBox depends on how long you subscribe for. If you sign up for just one month it is $29, if you sign up for 3 months it is $24/month, if you sign up for 6 months it averages out to $19 a month and if you sign up for an entire year, it averages out to $16.50 a month. For all plans, shipping is free.
