I received products from Candlewick Press for my review. All opinions are my own.
Valentine’s day is a great time to remind your loved ones just how much they mean to you. One great way to do so is to cuddle up and read a book together. When you read with a young child, it gives you the opportunity to reconnect and to share thoughts and ideas. It’s a chance to see the world through their eyes. It can also open a line of communication into many other subjects.
Many of our moved loved and cherished books come from Candlewick Press. They have many wonderful book with great stores and beautiful illistrations.
For our review, Candlewick Press recently sent us five special Valentine’s day themed books: Paul Meets Bernadette, Dinosaur Kisses, Hearts, Never Too Little To Love and Forever.
Paul Meets Bernadette by Rosy Lamb is a cute story about a fish named Paul. Paul is sort-of set in his ways. Then one day Bernadette moves into his fish-bowl. Bernadette teaches Paul how to see the world in a new and exciting way. This is my favorite of our new books. I love the creativity and playfulness. Paul Meets Bernadette is suggested for ages 4-7.
Dinosaur Kisses by David Ezra Stein, takes readers along as Dinah the dinosaur searches for her first kiss. Before getting her first kiss, Dinah needs to learn what a kiss is and then how to give a kiss. My husband had a great time reading and acting this story out with our daughters. I am not sure who enjoyed the stomping and chomping more, him or them. Dinosaur Kisses is suggested for ages 2-5.
Hearts by Thereza Rowe, is a comic strip story about Penelope Fox looking for her lost heart. Penelope takes readers on her mission of self-discovery. While Penelope is on her journey, she must avoid dangerous sharks and cat-guards. A playful chicken promises to lead her to the land of lost things by proposing that it will be there where she will find her lost heart. My oldest really enjoyed this book. She liked the comic book style. Hearts is suggested for pre-school to grade 3.
Never Too Little To Love by Jeanne Willis, tells about Tiny Too-Little. Tiny Too-Little is a little mouse on a mission to be kissed. The story takes you along an adventure with Tiny Too-Little as he discovers that we are never too little to be kissed or loved. My youngest adores this book. She thinks that Tiny Too-Little’s creativity is hilarious. Never Too Little To Love is suggest for 3 years and older.
Forever by Emma Dodd is a cute story about a parents love for their little one. The little polar bear cub learns that through life’s challenges, your parents love will last forever. Forever is suggest for ages 2-5.
This Valentine’s day, celebrate with your little ones by cuddling up with a Candlewick book. You can connect with Candlewick Press on facebook, twitter and pinterest.
Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.
