Learning Resources is a great company that offers a large assortment of educational toys and products at affordable prices for families, schools, daycares, and special needs.  Their variety spans from many different subjects: Early Learners, Preschool, Math, Time & Money, Reading & Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish to a variety of ages 2 through 8+.

We received the Snap-N-Learn Alphabet Alligators for this review.  This set contains 26 pieces total.  There are 13 different heads and 13 different tails and each is double sided to include all 26 letters of the alphabet.  The goal of this toy is to encourage children to pair the Capital Letter with its Lower Case Match.  The alligators are color coded as well which simplifies the process of finding possible matches.  Any heads will allow hook up to any tail, whether the letters match or not, which keeps the younger learners from getting frustrated.

We have found this to be an open ended toy that I can adapt for each skill level of our children.  While our youngest at 21 months just hooks up any alligators, our 3 year old is able to match letters with some minimal assistance.  For our older two children who are 6 1/2 and almost 9, since matching lower case to upper case would be too simple, I’ll say a word and they will each find the match to the first (or last) sound from the word and then compare with each other to make the match.

The Snap-N-Learn Alphabet Alligators is a great set.  The only thing I would like to see is for each letter to be on its own alligator so they could match the complete alphabet and then line them up in ABC order.
