There are tons of occasions to celebrate: a graduation, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, a wedding. Sometimes, we want to forgo the flowers and ties or we just run out of ideas. We have to remind ourselves that choosing a practical gift can be very thoughtful and often it’ll have a more significant impact since the person who receives it will use it time and time again. Black & Decker has a huge selection of small appliances that are sure to please, from basics to more specialized appliances. They have coffee machines and grinders, bread makers, waffle makers, electric griddles, irons, juicers, toasters and toaster ovens. They also created a collection for Kohl’s called Kohl’s Color Collection.

For this review, I received a 2-Slice Toaster which I offered to my sister as a graduation present. It comes in white, black, and red. My sister loves red and it’s the accent color in her kitchen so I immediately knew I had to choose the red one for her. Depending on your decor or the decor of the person you would like to offer it, you can choose a more neutral color. The sleek and compact design means that it’ll look great in any kitchen.

The outer casing of the toaster is in shiny plastic. It feels durable enough but might scratch more easily than a metallic one. I noticed that stays cool even when the toaster is in use which is an advantage of plastic.

This toaster may be compact but it’s packed with features. It has a browning knob with 6 settings that is easy to adjust so you can get perfect toasts every morning. With 850-Watts of power, it browns your toasts in about 2 minutes. It was tested and was reliable. When set to a specific setting, it seemed to brown toasts evenly in the same way over and over again. The only thing we noticed is if your bread is taller than usual, the slots aren’t very deep so you might find that the top part of your slices aren’t brown or as brown as the rest of your toast.

Another nice feature is the extra-wide toasting slots. They are perfect for bagels which brings me to the next set of features. This toaster has 3 additional settings: bagel, frozen, and cancel. The bagel option creates delicious bagels by toasting the cut side and warming the other. Perfect crispy and chewy bagels every time! The frozen option is also great for waffles or other frozen pastry or bread-like foods. This toaster also has a removable slide-out crumb tray for easy cleanup.

If you’re looking for a useful present for a loved one to celebrate a special occasion, I recommend taking a closer look at Black & Decker’s small appliances. They are a great value for the price and come with a 2 year limited warranty. If you dream about renovating your kitchen, remember that changing small appliances is a great way to update the look of a kitchen at a fraction of the price of a makeover.
