*I was sent a complimentary Calico Designs Laptop Cart With Mouse Tray. All opinions are my own.
A few weeks ago I wrote a Calico Designs Tech Stand Review where I discussed how much I had been enjoying using the tech stand as a laptop desk. They also sent me their Calico Designs Laptop Cart with Mouse Tray for review. The day that the desks arrived, Ryan claimed the Laptop Cart as his own, even though he uses a desktop instead of a laptop.
Ryan’s old desk was a big, bulky, traditional desktop computer desk that had worked okay in our old place where we had our computers set up in our bedroom. After we moved, we decided to put our computers in the living room so that we can watch our big TV while online. However, our living room pretty rectangular, so we couldn’t have the computer desk facing a wall and hang the TV in such a way that we could see it while online. So we had to face our computers out into the room and it just looked crazy to have a big desk in the center of the room. So although it wasn’t really designed for desktop use, Ryan thought that the Calico Designs Laptop Cart would be a great option for him.
The laptop cart feels like a cross between a traditional desk and a laptop stand (like the tech stand that I reviewed) Because it’s fairly minimal in its design compared to a desktop desk, but it’s a very upright desk. It feels like it’s meant to be used with a standard computer chair instead of a couch or bed. Ryan likes to use his computer with a recliner (because our dogs are clingy and want to sit on our laps all day) and it’s worked out great for him to use with the recliner. The laptop cart is on wheels and the legs sit low to the ground so Ryan can sit in the recliner upright, towards the front of the seat or he can lean back and pull the cart legs under the chair so he can rest against the back of the chair.
It looks a little silly with Ryan’s monitor (because it’s SO big) but it handles the weight of the monitor really well and feels really sturdy.
The pull-out mouse tray is a little bit wobbly once you put the weight of a drink on it (even a coffee cup) but not too bad. If you are left-handed, you can configure the tray to slide into the other side of the stand.
I haven’t really used it with my laptop at all, but as you can see it fits really well. The surface is 19.5″ x 13.5 (not counting the mouse tray).
We have the height on the lowest adjustment which is 26 inches but it can go as high as 37 inches.
Overall we are really happy with it. It takes up so much less space visually than his old desk and it just seems to fit better in the living room. Seems how it is on wheels, we can easily push it up against the wall if we have company and want to sit down and socialize without it being in the way.
You can purchase the Calico Designs Laptop Cart with Mouse Tray on Amazon. It’s currently $85.98.

This would be awesome to have! Since I work from home I sometimes work from the living room on my laptop and this would be so much better.

These are very nice. I could use one next to my living room chair at home. Then I wouldn’t take up half the dinner table any more!

What?! Yes, yes I need this. It would go perfectly with my comfy chair 🙂
I need one of these! Often times I move my computer around the house and never really have a place to set it on!!! It’s like a mini desk!
