Learning Resources is a great company that provides a large variety of learning toys, games, and tools. While I have had the pleasure of reviewing some of their products in the past, I was a customer long before that. Years ago, when I was a daycare provider, I would purchase products from Learning Resources. I found that not only did the kids enjoy and learn with Learning Resources, the products would hold up well and the customer service was always good.
For this review, I received the Color Mixing Set from the Learning Resources Primary Science line. This is a great Science Starter Set for introducing children to Science and all the fun it can offer. All of the pieces feel well made, sturdy, and perfect for children. From our 3 year old all the way up to our 9 year old, the kids had a blast experimenting and learning with this set.
I like the variety included. For a short lesson/experiment, we take out the clean and dry parts and on other days, we get down and dirty with the test tubes, water, food coloring, and eye dropper. Every experiment is teaching about colors and we love the options.
The only thing I’d love to see included is some pictures of steps on some of the “harder” experiments. There was one in particular that we couldn’t get to work. No matter how we rolled the paper towel, we couldn’t get the water to travel up it and into the middle test tube to mix colors. I imagine it is user error but without a photo of how to specifically roll the paper towel, we can’t be sure. Either way, the kids didn’t seem to notice and still had a blast.
We have found Learning Resources Science Sets to be hours of fun topped with learning. We have several different sets and rotate taking them out weekly because the kids never get bored. I am fairly laid back so some days we use the Experiment Cards that are included and some days the kids just use their imaginations and come up with their own experiments.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates.
