Our kids really enjoy playing with magnetic toys.  Actually, every child I’ve ever known has been attracted to the fun that magnetic force offers.  So when I heard that Manhattan Toy Company created a new travel magnetic toy, I was excited to see what it was all about.

I was sent the Travel Time Set from Manhattan Toy’s “Imagine I Can” line.  It seems like so many products and toys are specifically geared for one gender but I have found that our daughter enjoys this set as much as the boys do.  However, as soon as our 6 year old son saw the cover, he couldn’t resist digging in and trying it out right away because he felt that it was made for him.

Each set comes with 4 paper backgrounds to choose from and the Travel Time set comes with 104 magnetic pieces.  By opening the tin up flat, it’s possible for two children to be able to play at the same time.

The kids have spent hours creating scenes, vehicles, and just enjoying the opportunity to be able to be creative.  Since the magnetic pieces in this set are a variety of shapes and colors, imaginations are sparked.  I was surprised at first when I didn’t see any people, animals, or specific objects but the kids jumped right in.  It goes to show that children are fully capable of finding and creating fun with their imaginations and some simple objects.  The kids have created all the scenes in the pictures with absolutely no help or instruction from me.

Most of the time the kids will use a background paper but this set can also be enjoyed by just creating directly on the tin itself.  I’m happy about this because I know the backgrounds won’t last forever.

The “Imagine I Can” Magnetic Play Sets are perfect for travel.  All pieces are stored within the tin case and there is also a convenient carry handle for transporting.  We will definitely be sure to pack this on any future car or plane trips.
