*I was provided with glasses from SimplyEyeglasses.com. All opinions are my own.
I’ve been wearing glasses since I was 12, so roughly 11 years now. When getting my glasses from my eye doctors office, the frames would be $100-$200 and the lenses would be an extra $75-$100 on top of that. My mom once paid $350 for my glasses. While I need to wear glasses full-time, my prescription isn’t strong enough to require the expensive, thinned lenses and we never ordered progressive or anti-scratch lenses. That cost was just the most basic lenses with frames that we could order. Ryan on the other hand, has a really strong prescription so if he didn’t pay extra to have the lenses thinned, his would be really thick. So for someone like him, it’s easy to spend $400+ on glasses.
My prescription changes about once a year, and when I first moved out on my own at 18, I just didn’t have $350 to spend on glasses. I heard about websites that let you order glasses online, but I knew that the quality could vary drastically. Most sites don’t give you brand information about the frames you are ordering, so it’s nearly impossible to get an idea of what their quality is like. A few years ago I bought Ryan glasses online that broke within a few weeks.
SimplyEyeglasses.com is unique from other websites that offer prescription glasses because they sell name-brand glasses. They are also unique because they sell children’s glasses, where as many other eyeglasses sites do not. By purchasing a brand of frames that you know and trust, it takes away a lot of the risks associated with getting glasses online. The Simply Eyeglasses website has a huge selection of brands to choose from. If you have a pair of frames that you already own and really like, chances are pretty high that you can find them on SimplyEyeglasses.com to reorder if you want. I was excited about the huge selection because I am pretty picky about my glasses. I’ve worn similar looking glasses for years. I like glasses that are black plastic frames, with square-ish lenses and that are fairly level across the top.
I knew the measurements from my previous frames so I was able to look at the details of each frame on SimplyEyeglasses.com to compare measurements and find a pair of frames from a brand that I liked, that met my fashion-desires and were the correct size. I decided on the Converse Wet Paint glasses. These come in two sizes and four colors. I selected black and the smaller size option (50-16-135-26). The frames are $115.41, and the basic lenses were $43.00 so the order total was $158.41 – about half of what I’ve spent when ordering eyeglasses from my eye-doctors office.
They arrived 7 or 8 days after I placed the order which I was really impressed with. When I’ve ordered from my eye-doctor before, they took about 2 weeks to come in. They came in a case with a cleaning cloth. The glasses fit great and feel really sturdy and durable. I have no doubt that these will last me a long time. I don’t see any difference in their quality compared to the ones that I’ve gotten from eye doctors in the past. So, why not save money if you aren’t compromising quality? I’ll definitely be coming back to Simplyeyeglasses.com in the future because it just makes sense for my household financially.
Does anyone in your family wear glasses? Have you ever considered ordering online to save money?

I wear contacts at the moment–but it’s been 15 years since my last pair of glasses…needless to say I’m due but I’m in the same spot as you frames and lenses run me about $400–just don’t have that sort of cash–I’m going to give this sight a lookie =)

I am looking for some frames that are strait across the top, (no dip not even a slight one on the bridge of the nose.) Square or rectangle, semi-rimless, black in color at least on the front top.
Eye size 53-54 A. 35-40 B I have a large head, so I also need wide frames. Hope you can help me out. Thank you for your time. Cheryl -
I’ve never ordered prescription glasses online but it’s been about 16 years since my lasix surgery and my readers will need to be replaced with glasses one of these days. I’m searching these reviews to see how everyone likes the online companies. It’s very helpful to get an unbiased opinion!

I always use simply eyeglasses. They are wonderful!!
I have thought about buying glasses online but have been going back and forth about it. First of all I need a new prescription before I can get a new pair anywhere! I think I bought eyeglasses from an eye doctor’s office once–expensive–then went to one of the mall stores–a bit better. Next step–buy them on line!
