Thank you Martian Watches
for providing me with a product to review, free of charge.
These are my own honest opinions.
Tell me if you can relate! I often hear my cell phone ring and start a frantic search for it only to discover it, too late, between the sofa’s cushions or at the very bottom of my messy handbag. I also have a compulsion to check my emails all the time and stay connected via social media. At the same time, there are many places where I can’t have my cell phone right with me nor do I want to carry it in my pockets all the time which is what I resorted to until now.
There is a much better way (and less conspicuous way) to stay connected: a voice command watch by Martian Watches. It’s basically a Smartwatch! It connects to your smartphone (Android or iPhone) via Bluetooth and allows you to control your phone via voice command, call and answer phone calls, receive all kinds of notifications, remind you of appointments in your calendar, and much more. Martian Watches are basically beautiful timepieces packed with a ton of innovative techy features!
I am the proud owner of the gorgeous Passport Watch with a stainless steel band. It is also offered with a white leather band, black leather band, or black silicone band. This is one of the 3 models offered by Martian Watches. As you can see, it is stunning as a watch but of course, it does so much more! It is entirely controlled by 2 buttons on the side, a small discreet screen, a microphone and a speaker. All you need is a smartphone with Bluetooth, and the free Martian Watch app. Here are my favorite features:
I can see who calls me and be alerted by vibration. The screen will display the caller’s name or number. I can then choose to accept or decline the call using one of the buttons or simply by commanding it via gesture! All I do is raise my arm and shake my wrist a few times to decline the call. If I want to answer it, no need to reach for my phone: I can simply use the mic and speaker on my watch! I find that there might be a slight delay when I speak through the watch but it’s definitely better than missing a call because I can’t get to my cellphone in time.
I can read my text messages directly on my Passport watch. When I receive a text message, a light will flash and my watch will vibrate. The screen will then display the name/number of the person contacting me as well as the first 40 characters of text. If your phone allows it, you can even reply by voice command! Unfortunately, there is no way at the moment to ask the watch to display more than 40 characters but I hope this will be part of a future update.
I can be informed of notifications from any app I choose. For example, I can be notified each time I receive an email, when I receive a Facebook or Twitter notification, etc. Any app that allows notification on your phone, be it a social media platform, a game, a widget of some sort, can be forwarded to your watch! What will be displayed on the watch depends on the app itself.
I can take a photo or a video remotely. I can activate the camera through my watch and take a picture by pressing a button on my watch. This is especially nice if I want to take a photo of myself from a distance, if my phone needs to be immobile to take a picture (low light setting), or to take a video without holding my phone which will result in a much more stable image.
I can now locate my phone! There is a neat feature on my Passport called ‘Find phone’. It will play a loud tune (no matter if you set your phone to vibrate or to a low volume). I can’t tell you how helpful this is! I use it all the time. It also has a leash feature which will automatically warn you if you’re out of range of your phone. By the way, the range is good enough that I can leave my phone in my purse by the door and go anywhere in my house without loosing the signal.
The only things I would change would be to have a slightly wider screen. I like how it is small and doesn’t attract attention as it is but if it were just a little wider, it would display more information at once. I would also like to be able to control how many characters are displayed in emails (you can set it to no limit for text messages) or have the option to display the remainder of a email if necessary. Also, it is more bulky and heavy than a regular watch but that’s to be expected given all the functionality. I expect that new models will become increasingly more compact but I’m satisfied with my show-stopper shinny, gorgeous watch!
Overall, the Passport watch is such an amazing piece of technology! I love how easy it is to set up and use. (There are very clear instructions on the Martian Watches website.) I love how discreet it is: no need to reach for my phone. A quick glance at my watch and I can be notified of text messages, emails, etc. The voice command capabilities and all the other extras (camera mode, ‘Find phone’ feature) make it a well-rounded tech product. I wear it every single day and I think it would please any tech-savvy person in your family. In fact, if you’re looking for that special Father’s Day gift, I suggest you take a look at the Passport or the Victory watch.

That is insane cause it looks like an ordinary watch!! I never wanted one cause they look too ‘techy’ and bulky but these are really nice looking!!

That is the most amazing watch I’ve ever seen. You’ve totally sold me! I love the features…especially being able to check to see if a message is urgent or “ignore-worthy” without having to check my phone all the time.
