I received products from Candlewick Press for my review. All opinions are my own.
We have 17 ½ more days of school! I cannot wait for my daughters to be home and on summer vacation. At 5 and 7 years old, our summers are full of playing and relaxing. We go on walking adventures, swim, play in our yard and relax with a good book.
To prepare for summer vacation, I reached out to Candlewick Press; they sent the girls eight new books- Three Bird Summer, Magical Mix-ups Pets & Parties, Daisy Dawson on the Farm, Judy Moody Around the World in 8 ½ Days, Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer, Ant and Honey Bee A Pair of Friends in Winter, Poppy the Pirate Dog, and Jessica Finch in Pig Trouble.
Three Bird Summer by Sara St. Antoine- Adam is visiting his family’s cabin on the lake, just like he has many years before. This year though some things are different; the people and the adventures. Follow along as Adams takes you on a journey to find hidden treasure and discover new friendships. Three Bird Summer is for 10 years old and up.
Magical Mix-ups Pets & Parties by Marnie Edwards- Princess Sapphire dreams of a pet for her birthday present. When Emerald the Witch gifts her tickets to an animal magic show, they discover the star of the show is missing. Readers must draw the missing designs to see what happens next. Magical Mix-ups Pets & Parties is suggested for ages 7 years old and older.
Daisy Dawson on the Farm by Steve Voake- No one on the farm is happy; it is simply too hot to be happy. The water animals are especially unhappy as their home has dried up in all the heat. Daisy Dawson corals the barnyard animals to see if they can find a solution to their drought dilemma. Daisy Dawson on the Farm is for 6-9 year olds.
Judy Moody Around the World in 8 ½ Days by Megan McDonald- Judy Moody is at it again. In this story, Judy is annoyed with a new girl named Amy Namey. Amy is getting a little too close to Judy’s good friends Rocky and Frank. It’s beginning to make Judy suspicious. Follow along as Judy goes on a whirlwind of adventure. Judy Moody Around the World in 8 ½ Days is suggested for ages 6-9 years old.
Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer by Megan McDonald- True to Judy Moody style, this summer is going to be FULL of adventure. In this story, Judy is doing all she can do to save the summer. During her summer vacation, Judy is trying to earn mega thrill points while helping Stink find bigfoot. How many thrill points will she earn and how? Will Stink ever find Bigfoot? Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer is for ages 6-9 years old.
Ant and Honey Bee A Pair of Friends in Winter by Megan McDonald- Tells a journey of love and friendship as experienced by two little bug. As the weather turns cold, both bugs need to protect themselves for the harsh weather, but neither is ready to say goodbye to their friend. What will they do? Will they still be friends? Ant and Honey Bee A Pair of Friends in Winter is suggested for ages 5-9 years old.
Poppy the Pirate Dog by Liz Kessler- Poppy’s family is setting sale on a seaside vacation. Poppy has the right pirate attire but isn’t so sure which boat will work for her. After trying several different boat styles, Poppy isn’t feeling very confident. Will Poppy give up or will she continue looking and find the perfect Pirate boat for her? Poppy the Pirate Dog is for ages 5-9 years old.
Jessica Finch in Pig Trouble by Megan McDonald- is about a young girl who dreams of receiving a potbellied pig for her birthday. Jessica has searched her house high and low for hints to her birthday gift but cannot find any. To complicate things more, her friend Judy Moody isn’t being so friendly. Will Jessica get her potbellied pig? Will Judy Moody ruin the party fun? Jessica Finch in Pig Trouble is suggested for ages 4-5 years old.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.
