*I received complimentary jeans from Wranglers. All opinions are my own.
When it comes to shopping for men, I usually go with practical gifts. For the men who I shop for, they are just really practical guys who don’t have a long list of things that they want. In fact, Ryan rarely has anything at all that he wants which makes it really hard to shop for him. He often tells me I don’t even need to get him anything, but of course I feel like I do need to get him presents for holidays and his birthday at least. So, I tend to go the practical route and get him things that are nice but that he also needs. This often includes clothing because he’s rough on clothing and wears things out quickly. One clothing brand that I keep going back to because of their durability is Wrangler. Their clothing is really well made and lasts longer than other brands that we have found, especially for the price. They have a great selection of jeans around the $18-$25 a pair mark and I’ve gotten Ryan Wrangler shirts for $15 that he’s had for a few years now.
I often buy my dad clothing because he is also rough on his clothing. He likes straight leg jeans without any fading or details. Wrangler original cut jeans are great for him. Ryan likes baggier jeans so he often looks for jeans that are described as having a loose or relaxed fit. For Ryan, Wrangler’s relaxed boot cut, relaxed fit, and loose fit styles are perfect. It’s pretty impressive that my dad & Ryan are 40 years apart in age and have totally different interests, but they can both find Wrangler styles that suit them. I used to think of Wrangler as a western style apparel store – a brand for cowboys. Yet, Ryan now owns several different wrangler items that suit his fashion preferences just find. They really have something for everyone. Ryan doesn’t really have a preference when it comes to the coloring of his jeans but I like to see him in jeans with slight fading. We were recently sent Wrangler’s Five Star Regular Straight Jean – Premium Finish and Rainier Relaxed Boot Jean in Tinted Mid Shade.
Here are two views of the straight jean:
Ryan is kind of between sizes depending on the brand and cut of jeans. I opted to select the larger of the two sizes that Ryan is between. Both pairs of jeans were a little big on Ryan, so I think they fit pretty true-to-size. I think I could have went with the smaller size in both. Ryan really likes both pairs and has been wearing them both regularly. I wouldn’t normally select straight jeans for Ryan, but I think the 5 star regular straight jeans look nice on him. The ankle area isn’t as narrow as I would have expected. I thought they would have a tighter fit overall but they had a more normal fit with a straight leg. I’m not sure why I associate straight leg jeans as being tight but that wasn’t true here. The solid coloring gives them a slightly more dressy look than jeans with fading so I can see Ryan pairing these with dress shirts for events that aren’t formal but where he wants to look nice.
Pictures of the Rainier jean:
I really like the rainier jeans. They are part of the loose boot cut line. Ryan finds traditional boot cut jeans to be tighter in the thigh and hip area than he likes. These are a great fit for him because they are looser in the thighs like Ryan likes while still being boot cut. I really like the slight fading and pocket detail because it has a more youthful, casual look that makes them a great everyday jean for Ryan. Yet, the fading and pocket design is fairly subtle so as not to stand out too much. As I mentioned, Ryan is between sizes depending on the brand and cut and I think I should have went with the smaller size in these as they are a bit baggier on Ryan than they are really designed to fit.
Wrangler jeans are available in lots of stores as well as on the Wrangler website.
