I received products from Rust-Oleum for my review. All opinions are my own.
When my husband and I married, 8 years ago, one of the gifts we receive was a patio furniture set. The set includes a patio table and four chairs. The chairs have metal frames and some sort of resin canvas fabric. After 8 years of Oregon rain and sunshine, the paint on the frames had started to crack and peel. Overall the set was still in good condition though. I decided to try to repaint the frames using Rust-Oleum Stops-Rust hammered black spray paint.
Before I took on the responsibility of painting an entire patio set, I decided to try painting a wall sconce. The small project went great; the sconce had a fresh look and feel. Tackling this small project helped to boost my DIY confidence.
Once I gathered my courage, I set the patio chairs in our lawn for a good pressure washing. After they sun dried, I began spraying the frames with Rust-Oleum spray paint. That too went very well. However, I wanted to do more. Against my husband’s wishes, I painted the resin canvas material. I sprayed one coat on the back of the chairs and two on the front.
It appears that the paint has adhered nicely. I am aware that this product isn’t necessary suggested for this type of project, but I am pleased with the outcome so far. I may add another coat to the back of the chairs later this summer.
After I crossed this project off my to-do-list, I still wanted to do more! Lol. I noticed we had a set of 5 (1990s) lamps sitting in our Goodwill pile. I decided to give them a fresh look. I sprayed them with Rust-Oleum spray paint. I am thrilled with how they look. They aren’t going back in our Goodwill pile. As soon as I find the right lamp shades, all five will be featured throughout our house.
I am pleased with how Rust-Oleum Stops-Rust Hammered Black spray paint helped me finish three DIY projects.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

I never would have thought of using it on patio chairs, but it looks so cute! I wonder if I could use it on our gate too!

Thank for the great tips with Rust-Oleum. Your projects came out so nice. I’ll look twice now at those rusty bargains I see at garage sales and flea markets since I know I can upcycle them like this.

WOW!! I really love how those lamps came out and that planter is super cute, You make it look so
easy to do.
Oh my goodness, I didn’t know you were from Oregon. I am too!! I had a nice metal set my husband got us and we lived at Lincoln City for 9 years. It is just rusty galore and I am afraid it is too late for this. I was thinking about trying something like this. Great job!!!
