Injinji Toe-Tally Awesome Performance Socks

You know me. I like to try new stuff. I like to experiment with new products. It’s the best way to come across unexpected little gems that turn out to become part of my daily life. So when I was offered the opportunity to try performance toesocks, I immediately said ‘Absolutely!’

I’d heard weird things about minimal footwear and toesocks. Some claimed it was the only way to go, some said it was so uncomfortable they couldn’t stand it. Generally speaking, the idea behind these products is that the less contrived your feet are, the more natural your movements will be and the more comfortable you’ll be. Seems like a reasonable argument so I was excited to see what the fuss is all about by trying 4 pairs of Injinji performance toesocks.

Injinji specializes in performance toesocks. They offer a huge variety of products so you can find the perfect fit for your feet, depending on the activity you’re doing, the level of support/protection you need, etc. Injinji toesocks actually come in 6 different lengths and 3 different levels of thickness (or weights). They use COOLMAX, Lycra, and Nuwool fibers that wick moisture away and stretch for a comfortable fit.

Injinji Performance Toe Socks

First of all, I like that these performance socks come in so many different styles and colors. Sports socks don’t have to be boring! I admit, that’s probably a girly first argument but hey, I’m a girl after all!

Second, I was surprised at how quickly I forgot I was wearing toesocks. Obviously, putting a 5-sleeve sock on isn’t the same as putting a regular sock on but it’s not rocket science either. You just have to make sure you slip each toe in its sleeve before you pull it up your heel. Then, for a few minutes, I felt like there was something stuck between my toes and kept wiggling them. It wasn’t uncomfortable, it was just a new sensation. After that, my brain started to process that is was just socks. I would still feel them but it didn’t bother me, just like you feel you’re wearing jewelry. After wearing them for a while, I don’t notice them at all anymore.

injinji toesI like how each pair of toesocks is specifically designed for a different purpose. For example, the TRAIL 2.0 has more padding and raises higher above the ankle to provide more protection. The YOGA socks have slip resistant grippers underneath which obviously is quite important when balancing. Both pairs of RUN 2.0 provide great arch support. The heel tab is also a great design detail! It keeps the socks from disappearing in my shoes and also prevents friction.

After wearing them for a few weeks, I can tell you that these socks are really as great and comfortable as people claim! The toe-sleeve design allows toes to move individually and freely. Toes are supposed to splay as you walk or run but this can’t happen if toes are all squished together like in a regular sock.

The high-quality fibers also work well to wick moisture away. It doesn’t mean your feet won’t sweat or get hot, but they’ll be drier and less smelly than with regular socks. The fact that the upper part is a thinner mesh also helps with temperature control.

The way fibers are weaved provides arch support and also prevents blisters and chafing. The extra padding on the midweight socks is great if you need more cushioning and protection but they are also warmer. The cuffs keep socks in place throughout my activities but they’re not so tight that it becomes uncomfortable.

In terms of care, Injinji socks can be machine washed and should be line dried. It will prevent the fibers from getting prematurely damaged. Actually, my RUN 2.0 Midweight socks ended up in the dryer by accident (I was so sad when I noticed!) and you can see some pilling in the picture above. They are still totally wearable and comfortable but whatever you do, DON’T put them in the dryer if you want to keep them looking great for longer!

why injinji toesocks

I really like my new Injinji socks! I actually don’t save them for when I exercise. I like to wear them all the time and I hope they’ll continue to add more styles and color combinations! I think everyone should try them and see for themselves how comfortable they are. Injinji toesocks are designed to fit the natural shape of feet so whether you have large feet, long toes, skinny feet or crocked toes, you’ll be able to slip them on! You can also wear them with any footwear you want.

I can see why you’d be unsure about the toes but it’s definitely not a big deal. You focus on it at first, then it becomes natural.

Even though I’m a tall person, my toes aren’t that long. I’ve never tried these kind of socks but have tried the sports shoes with individual toes and they did not work for me. I would definitely try them on before buying, but that’s just me and my short toes talking, lol.
