There are some products that I have come to rely on as a parent.  One product that I do consider a necessity is a baby monitor.  Back when I did daycare for five years, I had multiple monitors so I could keep a closer watch/ear on all of the children during nap time.  They gave me a sense of peace knowing everything was okay as I could listen to the rhythmic breathing through the hand unit.  Now as a mother to four with another on the way, I still find baby monitors to be just as essential.

Philips AVENT sent me their Philips AVENT DECT Audio Monitor in preparation for our upcoming arrival.  This particular model is from their audio line and offers a variety of impressive features including:

monitor 1

~LED Lights
~Sound Activated Lights To Show Baby’s Noises
~Rechargeable Parental Unit
~Up To 18 Hours Operating Time Off One Charge
~Reliable Connection
~Temperature Sensor
~Vibration Mode
~Nightlight
~Lullabies Can Be Played To Calm Baby
~Two-Way Communication Option So Baby Can Hear You

The Philips AVENT DECT Audio Monitor is definitely the nicest audio monitor I have ever used.  I had no idea that a monitor could come with so many features.  The vibration mode is especially nice because it can get loud with the bigger kids playing and I like knowing that I can still know when the baby wakes by the vibration mode.

Since this monitor is so portable, I plan to use it when the baby is sleeping and I take the older kids outside to play.  This will come in especially handy as Fall hits and the weather will be too cool for her.  I will have the comfort and peace of mind knowing she is sleeping just a few dozen feet away in the living room but be able to hear her if she would awake.  In testing this monitor with our current children, the sounds come across quick and clear.  The lights are another great feature so I can visually see when noise is being made on the base end of the monitor.  This will also make a great monitor for when we travel to Grandparents houses for holidays and gatherings.

  • You should mention the other 2 monitors from Philips, the one with Temperature sensor (SCT525) and Temperature and Humidity Sensor (SCD535)). They come in very handy if you live in a place where the winters are cold.
