About two years ago I started experiencing sensitivity when brushing one area of my teeth/gums. I made a dentist appointment and there wasn’t a cavity or any outward signs of an issue so they did an x-ray which showed nothing. The dentist said I was likely just experiencing sensitivity. I was relieved that there didn’t appear to be an issue but I was still a bit worried that there was secretly something wrong that the dentist just didn’t find.
When I changed health insurance and changed to a new dentist I brought it up to the new dentist who did x-rays and again found nothing. So I finally truly relaxed and gave in to just having sensitivity. The downside was I didn’t think I could do anything about it. The pain is really pretty minor – it’s something I can live with but I did notice that I have a tendency to brush that area more softly and for a shorter period of time because of the sensitivity which I knew wasn’t ideal. So when I heard that Crest had come out with Sensi Stop Strips for sensitive teeth I was excited to give them a try.
The strips are similar to whitening strips except they are only about an inch long. Instead of putting the strip across the entire side of your tooth, you want to put it so that it covers the area where your teeth and gums meet really well. This is the perfect size for me because the sensitivity seems to be two teeth that are next to each other and the strip covers the two teeth. You leave the strip on for 10 minutes. I felt some tingling but it didn’t irritate me. I held the strip in place because it wanted to slip around a little bit. Once removing the strip my mouth felt completely normal.
It’s been about two weeks since I first applied the strip and I am still not having any sensitivity when brushing my teeth. I am back to brushing the sensitive area like normal which I feel great about. The strips come in a back of six for about $20. Crest Sensi-Stop Strips are available for purchase online.
