Thank you to Feber for providing me with product, free of charge, for review. All opinions are my own.
As a child, I always wanted a ride on vehicle. I’d see them on TV with a catchy jingle that would stay in my head for days. Unfortunately, I never was lucky enough to own one. Now that I have children of my own, I have seen that same longing in their eyes but a couple years ago, my parents bestowed our (three at the time) kids with a ride on. As the years pass, though, our two older kids have outgrown that toy and I had found nothing age appropriate for them in the ride on department. Thankfully, Feber has come to the rescue and filled the gap with their new Dareway.
The Dareway is a 12 volt upright ride on that is geared for kids about 6-10 years old weighing up to 89 pounds. The style and operation is perfect for this age group. The Dareway has push button steering and a foot pedal “go” operation. By holding both push buttons in, the child is even able to go in reverse. I think my children’s favorite feature, though, is the possibility of doing 360° spins. The Dareway reportedly can go up to 3.7 miles per hour at a gradual speed increase.
Assembly: My husband basically did the complete assembly by himself with just a little “help” from the kids, including the 2 year old who enjoys being a part of everything. He did use the instructions and from unboxing to finished product took him about half an hour. While he said the assembly was harder than many products I ask him to put together, it wasn’t all that tough with patience and following the directions. Feber also includes a large sheet of stickers to personalize the Dareway but our kids are still in discussion about which ones to use so we have not put those on yet.
Test Driver #1: Our 7 year old son was the first to jump on. He had no idea what to expect and my husband had him slightly leery because he kept saying how it will go really fast. So he was hunched over hanging on for dear life the first time he stepped on the accelerator. However, he soon got the hang of it and was enjoying himself in the freezing 25 degree weather we were having! (The very next day we got over 10 inches of snow!)
Test Driver #2: After watching her brother, our 9 year old decided to give the Dareway a shot. While it took her a little longer to get the hang of it (view the video of her very first ride below), she was able to learn how to control and drive fairly well too. Although she does say it was tricky to get it to do what she wanted right away, after experimenting for a bit, she had a good handle of the mechanics and was able to drive better.
Verdict: The kids love it. They think it’s a fun and cool toy and are excited to take it down the paved trail that’s near us once Spring comes again. I think that it’s a great option for that middle age group that outgrows traditional ride ons. It drives fairly well on cement, which is what we have in front of the house. While the Dareway did spin a little, it still drove quite well and we didn’t have any real issues once the kids got used to running it. We did try to test it on grass for the review but it spun too much to work on that surface. So I would love to see different tires on the Dareway that would accommodate driving around the yard.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
