I received products from Sleeping Bear Press. All opinions are my own.
Sleeping Bear Press is a children’s book publisher. They offer a wide selection of books including board books for toddlers all the way on up to teen novels. Sleeping Bear Press is dedicated to offering children’s books with educational content, fun story lines and beautiful illustrations. Their books have won numerous awards and were even found under the President’s Christmas tree!
For our review, we received A Cookie For Santa by Stephanie Shaw, a collection of Stella Batts books by Courtney Sheinmel and a set of Frog and Friends books by Eve Bunting.
A Cookie For Santa tells the story of the Night Before Christmas with a twist. A little gingerbread boy cookie has been made special for Santa’s late night snack. As the cookie waits for Santa to arrive, he encounters two hyper puppies. The puppies are acting up a bit because they are excited about their first Christmas. They end up getting into a bit of trouble. The gingerbread boy comes to the rescue and saves Christmas.
My daughters have enjoyed reading A Cookie For Santa. They thought the cute gingerbread boy was a fun spin on the traditional Night Before Christmas story. They laughed at all the trouble they saw the puppies get into and were excited that the gingerbread boy came to the rescue.
Stella Batts is a precocious eight year old little girl. Like many girls her age, Stella is still learning about herself and her place in the world. Throughout the set of seven books, readers are taken on various journeys of discovery and learn many valuable lessons including: self-confidence, self-esteem, manners, friendship, communication, responsibility and humor.
Savannah, my almost 8 year old, has many of the same personality traits as Stella. I am so excited for her to open this set on Christmas morning. I have a feeling we won’t see her again until she has finished reading the set….and then we will hear ALL ABOUT Stella.
Frog and Friends is a great series for early readers. In this set of 7 books, Frog opens his world to readers. Frog enjoys the simple things in life, like floating and spending time with friends. Not every day can be relaxing though. Frog and his friends have things to do. In their wild adventures, Frog and Friends must confront fears, reassure friends, and volunteer.
Cheyenne, my 5.5 year old, has really increased her vocabulary and reading skills in the last month. I think she will get a kick reading about frog and his friends and all the valuable skills/life lessons they learn. Cheyenne has a wonderful sense of humor. I have a feeling we’ll be laughing through each book.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.
