HABA is a retailer that makes me feel great about purchasing from them, regardless of what I purchase. They have an eco-conscious business model and every item that I’ve owned from the brand is beautifully made. They focus on creative toys that will naturally spark a child’s imagination without the need for batteries or technology. While taking early childhood development classes in high school and college, I was taught about the importance of child-powered play and how kids learn better through being creative with their play instead of pushing a button (or tapping a screen) and seeing an electronic response. I’ve also come to realize that my nieces and nephews tend to play longer with toys that are not battery operated.
Right now HABA is doing a campaign called Take Time To Play. The goal of the campaign is to encourage families to spend time playing together over the holidays as a way to bond. It’s easy to get wrapped up in being busy with work and life, but I never regret spending time on the floor playing with the kids. It’s such a unique way of bonding because playing is such a large piece of children’s lives. I love when my nieces and nephews ask me to play with them because they’re basically inviting me into their world. Even when I don’t really feel like playing when they first ask, I always feel better when I just say yes and join them. I love the beliefs behind HABA’s toys so I was excited to get to see a non-toy item from HABA for the first time.
HABA sells Lassig brand items which include purses, bags, blankets, bibs, backpacks and more. My sister likes to buy her daughter Kelsie deer themed items but deer are pretty hard to find on baby/toddler girl items. I was really excited to come across the Lassig Lela Cozy Blanket at HABA. It is a 47″ cotton muslin blanket that has four layers. The outer layers feature polka dots on one side and a deer print on the other. The blanket is available in white with blue or white with pink. I knew the pink blanket would be perfect for Kelsie. She has muslin swaddle blankets that she likes to nap with. If you aren’t familiar with muslin, it’s a soft material that continues to get softer with each wash and is nice and breathable. Kelsie tends to overheat while sleeping so having a breathable blanket is important for her. Kelsie is only about 30 inches tall right now, so the 47″ blanket will be a great size for her for years to come.
