*Hot Dog Collars sent items for my review. All opinions are my own.
A week or two after I adopted my two pugs, we were outside and suddenly I couldn’t findĀ one of them. I went into an immediate panic even though the place we were living is quite a distance from the road. Thankfully, the dog had just wandered a couple of feet into the woods and wasn’t visible to me because a tree was between us. Since that first scary encounter, the thought of losing either of my dogs has been a fear of mine.
I always stay outside with them when they go to the bathroom but I still worry. ID tags are a great way to keep your contact information on your pet(s) at all times in case they get lost and are found by someone else. Hot Dog Collars sent me an ID tag for Frank & Beans as well as tag clips for both dogs. While I am not a “collar person” who uses collars to accessories my dogs outfits on a regular basis, I do like to wash their collars so I will switch between two collars while their primary collars are in the wash. I have always struggled to get the key rings from the tags undone from one collar and added to the next. Tag clips are nice because you lace the key ring through the clip and then simply use the clip to transfer the ID tag from one collar to the next without having to undo the key ring. They come in different sizes so you can choose the one that is best for your pet and their collar.
For most of our family members and friends, it’s hard to tell Frank & Beans apart because they are both fawn colored pugs. I like to use their collars as a way to help others tell them apart. Frank is a boy so we go with blues, blacks and reds for his collars and for Beans we use pinks and purples. For their ID Tags, I chose a black bone shaped tag for Frank and a purple heart-shaped tag for Beans. Both were listed under the Cheap Dog ID Tags category and were $4.99 each. The tags can be engraved in front and in back. On the front I put their names, our address and our phone number. On the back I included my boyfriend’s email address (because I have trouble having emails come through on my account sometimes). Beans’ heart shaped tag is slightly smaller than the bone shape is, so the company let us know that the email address wouldn’t fit on a single line so we opted to have it engraved on two lines instead. For being so affordable, I am happy with the quality of both tags.
In my opinion, the coolest items that we got from Hot Dog Collars were two custom id dog collars. These are just $10.95 each for size small collars (10-14 inch neck) and a few dollars more for larger sizes. My pugs have 15 and 16 inch necks so they needed a size medium (14-20 inch collar) so they were $2 extra, so $12.95 each. The collars are made out of nylon so they are machine washable and super customizable.
You get to choose an inner and outer color for the main collar and a text color. For Frank, I chose black for the inner and outer color and light blue for the text color. For beans I chose purple for the outer color, and light pink for the inner color and text color. Then you also get to choose what to have written on the collars. There is a lot of room for text and the text you choose will repeat if there is leftover space. We are planning to move in late January so I didn’t want to put our address on the collars. Instead I included the dogs’ names and our phone number. You can also choose to have an art design added so for Frank I chose a bone and for Beans I chose a paw shape.
The collars have a plastic slider to help hold the two layers of the collar together. The d-rings are thick and sturdy and the buckles are plastic but feel sturdy as well. I feel much more secure knowing that if my dogs are ever lost that whoever finds them will have multiple options for contacting me now. I also love how I have the freedom to wash the collars if they get dirty. I think they are truly a bargain at $12.95 each.
You can order from Hot Dog Collars with standard shipping up until 12/18 to get delivery by Christmas for non-customized items. Most custom items have a 1-3 day delay before they ship so for those items you’ll need to order a bit earlier. Be sure to check the shipping options page and to check the individual pages for the item(s) you’re ordering to make sure you order in time.

Hi I dont know if you got paid for this review, but your doing a false service for all your readers. This company has a long history and habit of charging the customers and not shipping the products. Just google their reviews you’ll easily be able to see this. I just personally experienced it myself. Just FYI.
