We have five children so I have spent a fair share of time being pregnant and having young children.  And while baby-wearing didn’t go well with our first child because I just had a cheap, unsupportive carrier, the rest of our children have been worn for 2+ years each.  With baby #5 at just over two months old now, I heavily rely on baby-wearing so I can accomplish everything I need to in our daily lives.  This includes shopping and heading outdoors with the kids.  However, I’ve always worried about how our baby is doing and if they are warm enough because I couldn’t baby-wear if the weather required a coat.  However, I have recently discovered one of the most amazing jackets ever that has solved this issue.

Junah sent me their Soft Shell Jacket for review.  This coat is stylish and so very versatile as it can be worn in four different variations.  It comes with two additional panels that can be zipped on to the main shell of this jacket.  The first transforms the Soft Shell Jacket into a maternity jacket!  (Makes me wish I was pregnant again…..almost.)  The second panel allows for the transformation to a baby-wearing jacket.  The best part, it can be added to the front or the back of the coat to accommodate any type of baby-wearing!  The last variation is without either of the added panels.

Our baby is only two months so I have only worn her on the front but as she grows, I become an avid back baby-wearer as it allows me so much more freedom.  I  have been using this jacket for almost a month now and absolutely love it.  It’s comfortable but so stylish.  We recently went to a Christmas Celebration and I was able to confidently wear our baby on the 15 minute sleigh ride knowing that I could feel her and we were both warm and cozy in the crisp 30 degree weather.   While this is not a super heavy duty “Winter” coat that I would spend hours outdoors in, it has been sufficient for the short stretches I’m out.  Truly, though, it would make for the perfect Spring and Fall coat.

I have found the Soft Shell Jacket to run fairly true to size.  If in doubt, I would suggest sizing up.  I typically wear a size small in women’s and small/medium in juniors.  My Soft Shell Jacket is a size small and fits me perfectly at two months post-partum and still a few pounds to lose to reach my pre-pregnancy weight.
