Thank you to Parli-Cards for providing me with the following products, free of charge, in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
It’s Winter here. Cold, freezing temps, and snowstorms abound during most Minnesota Winters which makes it a great time to break out board games. If you’re still looking for that perfect Christmas present that also includes an aspect of learning with entertainment, look no further than Parli-Cards. They have some unique board games and card games that would make for a great present under the tree this Christmas.
We received the U.S. Presidents & Founding Fathers Election Edition Board Game for review. There are instructions to several different versions to play. The kids and I spent over an hour playing a “rummy” version and they begged to keep playing longer when I said we had to quit. While they are at the younger end of what this game is geared for (they are 7 and 9 and the game is for ages 8 and up) so we altered the rules just a little, they loved learning facts about the Government, Presidents, and Founding Fathers. The pictures on each card were especially eye-catching for them as they were able to put a face to each name. Sometimes, we would even search for the photo card of a specific President or Founding Father after reading a fact about them. Since I wanted to get this information out right away, we have not yet tried any of the other game variations but I love that we have more game playing options available.
The other product we received from Parli-Cards is their Speak GOV Card Game. This game comes with sturdy cards in a plastic storage case. Each card has an acronym on it from different Government Agencies. While this game is geared for ages 12 and up, the kids and I did flip through and read some. Of course, they didn’t really recognize any of them that we viewed yet but I know they soon will and this game will be a fun way to help learn and remember them.
Parli-Cards offers an educational way to learn while playing a game. It’s no secret that children learn best and retain information better during hands on fun. Even as an adult, I still find that true for me. So whenever I get a chance to introduce information to our kids in this way, I’m excited. While we will continue to use this as an addition to our homeschooling, I think that Parli-Cards products can benefit anyone who plays.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
