Thank you to Strider Bikes for providing me with the following product, free of charge, for review.  All opinions are my own.

I remember learning how to ride bike as a child.  It was stressful, scary, and yet exhilarating.  My dad would have me bring, what seemed like a ginormous bike, into the front yard and have me start pedaling.  Cautiously, I would get going and he would steady me for a bit before pushing off and letting us go.  Then, I’d tip over after a short distance because I didn’t have the balance part figured out yet.  This would go on for some time until I finally got steady enough to be on my own.  The stressful and scary part was when I would be sent off on my own, unsteady and still doubtful.  The exhilarating part came when I finally zoomed around the yard uncaring that I no longer had support.  Now, there is a better way and Strider Bike has the answer.  Kids can learn to ride without the scary stress of teetering and falling and still reap the reward of riding a bike uninhibited by training wheels.

We received the Strider Sport in red for review.  This is a 12 inch mid-level model balance bike.  The Strider Sport Balance Bike came packaged well and was easy to assemble.  The front wheel, steering wheel, and seat of choice needed to be attached.  Each and every part felt well made, high quality, and had great design.  Note:  This bike comes with an all weather mini-saddle seat as well as an XL padded seat.  This is great so the bike can grow with the child.  Our 2 year old uses the smaller seat and our 4 year old uses the bigger seat at a higher height.  The handlebars are also height adjustable allowing for the best fit for each child.

Our Minnesota Winter has not been kind this year.  After the first major snowstorm right at the beginning, we’ve seen very little additional accumulation.  For the past month, we’ve had a steady blast of cold temps rendering us stuck in the house almost non-stop.  The negative wind chill and below zero temps leave me wondering why I live where the air hurts my face!  However, our two little boys have been enjoying scooting around on their Strider Sport Balance Bike to help pass the time.  We don’t have a huge area but they make good use of what we have available.

Thankfully, we were able to head outdoors one day that reached half way decent temps and try the Strider Sport out in a more spacious environment.  However, there were still patches of ice so our 4 year old was hesitant to really try to speed around.

I’m really excited about the Strider Sport because our 9 year old daughter is still against learning how to ride bike.  She was always leery and I wish we would have had something for her to learn on when she was younger.  Now, our 4, 2, and baby will have this great tool to learn without fear.  Strider has designed their bikes to help children succeed.  The Sport has some great features including a smaller steel handlebar designed for small hands, light and specially designed wheels, industrial foam filled tires that never go flat, bar and seat clamps for easy fast adjustments, frame integrated foot rests, and more.
