Teacher Appreciation Week will be celebrated from May 4th through May 8th this year. Lakeshore Learning recognizes that there are many great teachers out there who go above and beyond. To celebrate, they are sponsoring this Lakeshore Learning Prize Package giveaway worth $180 that you can gift to a special teacher in your life!
Growing up, I have some very fond memories of a few teachers from school. I still remember my kindergarden teacher, Mrs. Erlander, who was so nice and was always ready with words of encouragement and a compliment. I always looked back fondly at my time in her classroom and even had the Christmas gift, a little Coca Cola Doll, she had given me until we moved when I was 13 and it got misplaced.
Ironically, I then had her husband as one of my teachers throughout my high school years! He turned out to be just as passionate of a teacher and was dedicated to his students in the same manner. While we didn’t always agree on things, he would always hear me out. It was so rare to see a teacher have the same respect for his students as he expected them to have for him. On the rare occasion where he was found to have provided the wrong information, he wasn’t afraid to admit it. It was so refreshing to enter his classroom each day knowing he would have a great attitude and lots to share.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

My son had some difficult with reading and math last year and the teachers really focused on him last year and summer camp which really helped him out a lot so I give a lot of credit to the teachers he had while they helped him learn and pulled him out for one on ones for reading which I am so happy they did that because he reads so good now and he’s in first grade even though he had to repeat kindergarten i think it’s the best decision i have made as well. #LakeshoreCelebratesTeachers

#LakeshoreCelebratesTeachers My son is 9 years old and Autistic. Last year was his first year in the mainstream school district and he was terrified. I admit I was too as I did not want anyone to ever hurt his feelings. We walked into the classroom and all the other children looked at him and smiled. The teacher, Mrs Brown had sent home notes to all the parents explaining about my son and asking that they talk with their children about being kind and accepting. He made so many friends and looked forward to going to school each day. I am in love with that teacher and her heart of gold.

My youngest son’s first grade teacher is amazing. She is patient and kind, and for my VERY shy, introverted little guy – she is perfect. She doesn’t push him beyond his comfort zone, but she has managed to get him to progress so much this year that I can’t even express my gratitude towards her.

I was a shy child and my teacher made a point to pair me up with another shy child. We had to study together, do projects together , and spend a lot of time together. That little girl is one of my closest best friends thirty years later – all due to a teacher that saw two little girls that needed friendship. #LakeshoreCelebratesTeachers
My 2nd grade teacher. I had moved from California and I remember being so nervous to start a new school. She was so kind and made me feel so special. All of my worries went out the door the first day! #LakeshoreCelebratesTeacher
