One of the frustrating aspects for us living in an apartment complex was being unable to fix things that broke. At times we would have to wait days for the apartment repairman to come help us with something that we could have fixed on our own within 20 minute sor less. Of course, it wasn’t worth risking our deposit to avoid the wait but I was thankful to move into an individually-owned rental house last January where the landlord was fine with us making minor repairs on our own.
While making repairs or putting new furniture together, Ryan always seems to lose track of something – whether its a screw, hammer, screwdriver, etc. I realized that a simple tool belt would be a nice practical gift for him. While looking around online at tool belts I found MagnoGrip which makes toolbelts with magnetic portins. I thought this was a genious way to keep track of nails, screws, nuts, bolts and other small magnetic pieces while working on a DIY project or repair.
I was sent a MagnoGrip wristband and the MagnoGrip 10 pocket magnetic tool pouch.
The wristband is really adjustable. I am fairly petite at 5’1″ and the wristband fits on me, with over an inch of velcro remaining to tighten it even more – and a couple of inches of additional space to make it wider so it would easily fit anyone from a skinny teenager up to a large man with ease. This would be great for use with smaller projects that involve screws, nails, or nuts and bolts to keep track of the small pieces without having to set them on a table or other surface and risk losing track of them.
The MagnoGrip 10 pocket magnetic tool pouch has a magnetic square on the front to keep track of tiny magnetic pieces, as well as 10 pouches that can hold a LOT of tools. I filled it with books, cleaning supplies, scissors, pens and other random non-tool items just to show how much it really can hold at once. It also has a hook in the front that can hold a hammer. The belt for the pouch is extremely adjustable, it can adjust down as skinny as need be (even to child-size) or it can expand up to about 50 inches around. The belt that comes with the pouch simply slides through a gap in the pouch so if you wanted you could string the pouch over a belt that you already own as well.
For our basic around-the-house DIY and repair projects these two products will be perfect. If you’re a truly handyman and need more space or would like an all-around tool belt there are several other variations available through the MagnoGrip brand. The 10 pocket tool pouch sells for $24.99 and the wristband sells for $15.99 so they’re reasonably priced in my opinion.
Do you do your own home repairs or any DIY projects? How do you keep track of screws and other tiny pieces?
