When I was a little girl in the 90’s, beauty, make up and fashion weren’t really concepts that my friends & I cared about or thought about. As a child, I thought of beauty care as basically being a hygiene routine. I knew that we needed to bathe and shower regularly, plus wash our hair and faces regularly to stay clean and to prevent skin problems. In the winter we used lotion to prevent dry or itchy skin. I knew that adults also used deodorant to prevent smelly under-arms, and some women chose to wear make up. Those actions were really the extent of my understanding of beauty and personal care. I know many little girls who are passionate about clothing and makeup before they even start pre-k but that wasn’t the case for me at all. I know many girls who are just genuinely interested in wearing makeup or dressing up to be like their moms and it’s a completely healthy interest. For others, it seems to be too big of a focus, almost as if they think that make up and clothing are what makes one person prettier, more successful or better than others. So, I’m thankful that for me beauty has been a personality trait, while personal care products are a way to physically care for your body, as I think that view is the healthiest one to have.
I remember preferring Dove bar soap as a child to have my face washed with. My grandma always had Dove soap and it didn’t make my face itch or burn when she used it to wash my face. My dad would purchase other brand of soap and it would live my skin a bit itchy or tingly in an irritating and dry way. My first experience with Dove was that it was a gentle, moisturizing brand and I still hold that view of the brand today.
Now through May 23rd, Dove products are buy one get one 50% off! This is a great time to stock up on some of your favorite Dove products. For the past few months I’ve been going back and forth between two Dove underarm products – I love the Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant and the Dove Advanced Care Deodorant/Anti-Antiperspirant. Both smell great, have a great texture when applied to my skin and are reasonably priced.
Ryan uses Dove body wash products, and we purchase Dove lotions that we both use. The BOGO deal is mix-and-match for all dove products so you can get body wash for your guy and deodorant for yourself and the cheaper of the two will have 50% taken off the price.
I regularly see Dove beauty themed ads being shared on Facebook because they do such a great job at capturing the thoughts, feelings and emotions that many of us can relate to. The new four generations video is no different, their family #BeautyStory is inspirational.
Do you plan to stock up on Dove products during this CVS sale? Which Dove products are your favorite?
