Well, our Big Pirate Birthday Bash is in less than a week and we are pulling together the final details. The kids and I have scoured Pinterest for some fun ideas and spent hours upon hours brainstorming together. Now, this final week will be spent finalizing some of the details and cleaning! However, during all of our preparation, the kids decided that Pirate Costumes were in order to complete the theme of our party. So, we headed over to BuyCostumes.com for help.
BuyCostumes.com is a company that offers costumes and party supplies all year round. So whether looking for supplies for a themed party, Halloween, or just some fun costumes for the kids (or any age!) to play dress up, they have so many choices. We received their Tinker Bell The Pirate Fairy Costume and matching sword for our 10 year old daughter and the Rogue Pirate Costume along with the combat shield and sword for our almost 5 year old son. Plus, we received the Jake & The Neverland Pirate Stand-Up as well as a Jumbo Treasure Hunt Map from their decorating supplies line.
Our daughter wears a size 10 so we chose the 10/12 for her Pirate Fairy Costume. Surprisingly, the costume is actually a little big on her but I was able to just put a hair tie around the top to gather it. This is great since I always thought costumes tend to run small. She loves that she’ll be able to fit into it for at least a year or two! This costume is a one-piece dress set that offers pretty details: sheer poof sleeves and trim, corset styled bodice, gold sash, and a character cameo. The Pirate Fairy Sword that is sold separately matches perfectly and offers a sparkly finishing touch to the ensemble. She loves it!
The Rogue Pirate Costume is a complete outfit including a one-piece jumper, boot covers, and head scarf. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite costumes! It’s even cuter in person and the head scarf is absolutely the perfect finishing touch. The jumpsuit is designed with a vest, shoulder cross-over belt, and even a sash! The boot covers are soft to the touch as well and should hold up better than some plastic ones I’ve seen. The head scarf is stretchy and so stinkin’ cute that I wish they sold them separately as I’d love to get one for everyone! Our son would wear this costume 24/7 if I’d allow it. Plus, the gladiator combat shield and sword he chose is a really fun accessory. It’s lightweight and sturdy but looks quite convincing. All our boys love that the sword can be stored right on the shield during non-combat hours.
I am really excited about the large 44″ high Jake & The Neverland Pirate Cardboard Cut-Out. It comes with a built in stand that folds and locks into place. I can’t wait to create a photo op corner for us to take pictures of all our guests at. Not only is this a great decoration but it will be the perfect token of appreciation to send inside our thank you notes! Since I’m planning a treasure hunt, the Jumbo Treasure Map will be a great starting point to hand out our clues. Its convincing look and large size is quite exciting to the kids and will definitely help create the perfect atmosphere on party day.
