If you’ve been following Emily Reviews for awhile, you probably know that we have five children. That could potentially mean a lot of birthday parties. Since we farm and have limited time between the end of morning chores and the beginning of evening milking, not to mention we have to balance field work in the mix, we decided to start having one big combined birthday bash a year for the kids. (This year, we are still having a smaller separate party for our youngest since she’ll be turning one but it’ll only include grandparents and her sponsors.) So I gathered our four older kids and asked them to use teamwork and agree to a party theme. After a short deliberation, a Jake & The Never Land Pirates/Pirate theme was chosen. So I then turned to Party City to help me pull this party together.
For those who are not aware, Party City offers an amazing selection of party supplies, costumes, accessories, and even party ideas. They have brick and mortar locations as well as the option to order online and have everything delivered right to your doorstep. So we headed to their site and typed in our theme. A seemingly endless array of products and ideas came up to help us to start preparing. We carefully viewed all our options and then narrowed down to some of our “must haves”.
We started with the Jake and the Never Land Pirates Ultimate Party Kit. This provided us with an amazing base and since we were going to have more than 16 children attending, we added some extras from there. A Jake and the Never Land Pirates Scene Setter created a great photo op for our guests. The amazing assortment of decorations and balloons we found at Party City provided the perfect mood and got everyone into the pirate spirit as soon as they arrived! I created different stations around the yard to encourage pirate activity. Some blow up swords provided a ton of fun as our little pirate adventurers got to Scallywag without any danger of getting hurt.
We also created a fun craft table for our little buccaneers where they could assemble and decorate our Party City Foam Pirate Hats as well as a “Dig For Buried Treasure” and “Walk The Plank” activity centers.
First stop after lunch was a Pirate Treasure Hunt. I created treasure maps that sent the kids all over the farm on their hunt. It was so much fun to see their excitement and it was a great activity that all ages got to participate in.
Of course, no birthday party is complete without some Piñata Fun! Party City did not disappoint as our Jake piñata was stuffed to the gills and offered enough treats and treasures for all of our pirate friends.
All in all, our party was definitely a smashing success thanks to Party City! The customer service, quality supplies, and affordable prices all created an event to remember. Every guest had a great time and we got lots of compliments on the atmosphere created. Plus, I know the kids will be able to look back and remember this awesome event because Party City helped make it so memorable.
