Thank you to Forktown Food tours for providing a discounted experience in exchange for review! All opinions are my own.
My husband and I recently visited Portland Oregon to get married! The place is amazing, but if you’re coming from a small town like we were its easy to feel overwhelmed with all the food options as well as how to get around in the city! Thats why I’m so glad that we took the Forktown Food Tour of downtown Portland. Our guide and owner of the business, Heidi was absolutely outstanding. Heidi was also the perfect person to ask for recommendations on our wedding night dinner! The tour included many food stops that really showed some unique gems within Portland. Heidi also made it a point to explain each restaurants history and upcoming! We made some very fancy stops and tasted foods that were above and beyond what we thought we would get to try, real fine dining! I really loved that after taking the tour, we felt we totally knew our way around Portland. We really valued the opportunity to have our taste buds opened to a whole new world at each menu stop we made, and we totally felt like we were in the right hands to let that “taste bud guard” down. I highly recommend taking this tour if you’re visiting Portland, after taking it we knew so much more about the town, the landmarks within the town, the restaurants, the food truck scene and about our own tastes! Had we not taken this tour we wouldn’t have ventured to any of theses awesome places or ventured our way through the menus. I actually feel a bit spoiled as I wish that this was an option in every town/state that I visit. I often times now find myself sharing with others everything I learned about Portland from this very tour!
The portion sizes were perfect to be able to consume the whole plate, but still fit each and every consecutive stop. The stops/meals were very well articulated to compliment each one previous as well as each one following it. We went in order of a delicious salad from the amazing Picnic House.
We then walked our way a short distance to a food cart Called Kargi Gogo where we enjoyed some tasty authentic dumplings as well as an eggplant wrap.
Continuing on our way we walked to Verde Cocina, where we ate a very taste filled plate and drank an out of this world margarita (I mean really out of this world)!
Now this next place we stopped at explains the so often used nickname “Porklandia” and for good reason, my husband and I still get nostalgic over these amazing little sandwiches at Lardo PDX. These pork belly sandwiches were the perfect amount of juicy and pure heaven paired with a plate of fresh made herbed fries. My husband and I had no shame in consuming the leftovers!
Next was onto the famous Cacao for a drinking chocolate experience as well as an artisanal parmesan cheese chocolate. Let me assure you I’m not a weirdo, this chocolate was amazing, also something I would have never tried without the Fork Town Food Tour, but am so glad I did!
Our final stop was Petunias Pies and Pastries for some amazing deserts to end the tour! The tour was a well worth it value for everything you get to eat!
I really loved this tour and when my husband and I go back for an anniversary, we will be taking another tour with Forktown Food Tours!
I am a stay at home mother of two, who loves to create in every form, from cooking, to henna, to painting or sculpting, creating with my hands is my passion! I love to dance and let loose when the music flows right. Being outside is a special kind of therapy I think humans need more of as well as mindfulness! I love all things new and adventurous and am always looking to experience more of life 🙂
