Thank you to Blue Apron for providing product in exchange for review. All opinions are mine.
Food is a need, everyone knows that, but for myself good food is just as, or more important! I’m always searching pinterest but never committing to any recipes.
Blue Apron is a company that has hand curated meals and menus that you the consumer choose through each week. Once you’ve chosen your desired meal/menu they deliver the ingredients in a cold packed box to your door on your selected delivery date. Meal planning doesn’t get much easier than that!
A huge benefit I found myself appreciating was that when I was preparing for an upcoming vacation I didn’t want to have to waste time getting groceries. Worse yet I didn’t want to have too much food and not be able to eat it all before we left. Having Blue Apron at that time was so helpful I had two dinners waiting on my door step, no grocery shopping, and no over purchasing, just exactly what I needed when I needed it.
The tasty recipe I received was Chicken Tinga Tacos, this was a meal I was anticipating as I really like tacos. I’m always willing to try different variations of my favorites. So begin I opened up the big box!
Here’s everything that was inside all laid out for both of the meals I ordered.
The first step was husking and halving the corn, quartering the limes, dicing the tomatillos, mincing the garlic and slicing the onion.
First off season, cook and shred the chicken.
Next up cook the onions and garlic, in the same pan used to cook the chicken.
Once softened add the tomatillos and water seasoning to taste as you go and mushing the tomatillos.
Cook until thickened.
Warm the tortillas in aluminum foil placed inside the oven.
Next up cook the corn and mix up the corn dressing consisting of sour cream and Cotija cheese.
Add the chicken into your tomatillo onion mix and cook until heated thoroughly.
The final step is plating everything up! Providing corn with its cheese dressing along with limes to squeeze upon each taco!
My husband was a huge fan of these tacos and both my kids enjoyed them as well. I was able to control the spice of everything to suit my family’s taste preferences. The other meal we also received was a hoisin style pork burger which was very unique and savory as well as sweet. Blue Apron really saved us when we were in a pinch for dinner meals. We were left with a better experience and taste profile that highly succeeded the frozen pizza that might have been our other option before vacationing. Each serving is priced out to $9.99 per person under the two person plan and $8.74 under the family 4 person plan.
I am a stay at home mother of two, who loves to create in every form, from cooking, to henna, to painting or sculpting, creating with my hands is my passion! I love to dance and let loose when the music flows right. Being outside is a special kind of therapy I think humans need more of as well as mindfulness! I love all things new and adventurous and am always looking to experience more of life 🙂

I think this sounds like a fun way to make dinner more convenient without using prepared food as we know it. I’ve seen the ads for this company, but am so glad you posted good pictures and a review. I think you’re right- it looks like the perfect way to try something new and to use before a vacation!
