Did you know that October is national pasta month? I didn’t until this year, but I was excited to celebrate it once I found out. Growing up my household didn’t really eat any pasta other than spaghetti which I didn’t eat, so I never ate pasta at all. I didn’t realize how strange that was until I got older and found that it was a really common dinner ingredient for most families.

I have always been sensitive to the textures of foods, so it’s interesting to me how many shapes and types of pasta they are and how differently they can feel texture-wise depending on how long you cook them. I started trying pasta in my late teens but I didn’t fall in love with pastas until a couple of years ago when my boyfriend had me try Buitoni tortellini. I fell in love with tortellini because it comes packed with cheese that is delicious, plus the texture doesn’t vary as much as other pastas. I think Buitoni pasta has a particularly nice texture because it doesn’t get frozen but stays refrigerated instead. If you boil tortellini for a long time, it will still shrink back up once you drain the water so it doesn’t turn into ‘mush’ like most pastas would. In my view, it lets me have soft pasta that I love without the risk of mush plus the option to choose what the tortellini is stuffed with is just so fun.

I’ve always purchased Buitoni four cheese tortellini in the past. I boil it with water and a bit of oil until it softens, then drain. Once drained I add pasta sauce into the pain until its warm and then serve with garlic toast or bread. Sometimes I top it all with sprinkled parmesean. It’s delicious and the whole meal can be cooked and on the table in about 20 minutes which is great for weeknight meals.

I recently learned that Buitoni has varieties of Tortellini and other pastas that I haven’t tried but I am super eager too because my household has been trying to eat healthier for the past few months. I’m eager to try Spinach and Artichoke Ravioli, Chicken and Roasted Garlic Tortellini, and Sweet Bell Pepper and Roasted Chicken Ravioli. I have been really into adding chicken to salads lately, so I plan to try the chicken and roasted garlic tortellini in a salad.

I grew-up only eating spaghetti but but, fortunately, I did like it. These sound delicious! I’d love to try the Roasted Chicken Ravioli. Thanks for the tasty information. 🙂

I had no idea there was a pasta month, but now that I know, we’ll be eating some tonight for dinner!

Not a pasta fan but I have to watch gluten and yes I have had gluten free pasta but rather like crunchier things rather than soft stuff like pasta. I don’t really have a fave pasta dish. I do love the smell of oregano and sauce, so I put it on veggies! Did not know October is celebrated for pasta as well.
