I remember seeing a few movies with monkeys in them as a child that I loved. There’s something about a monkey in clothes that is just fun, silly and engaging. Monkey Up is a movie that is coming to AMC theaters January 22nd through January 31st (one week only!). It was made by the creators of the Air Bud “Buddies” films.
Monkey Up tells the story of a monkey named Monty who has been working to represent an energy drink called Monkey Up in commercial and he dreams of breaking out of commercials to become the first award-winning monkey movie star! However, the owner of Monkey Up is greedy and has no interest in letting Monty quit doing commercials. Monty’s family and monkey-friends help him to escape and the owner of Monkey Up chases after them to try and get Monty back. See the trailer below.
Monkey Up has been certified family friendly by the The Dove Foundation and has a PG rating making it a fun movie to catch with your kids on a snow day or just for fun. The Dove Foundation only gives the family friendly certification to movies that portray and promote positive values.
Keep in mind that this movie is only in theaters for one week. If you want to catch it in theaters find an AMC theater near you between January 22nd and 30th. Or if you don’t mind waiting, the film will be out on DVD on February 2nd so you can pick it up to watch as a family friendly Valentine’s day!

This looks so funny! I agree- there’s just something so funny about monkeys dressed up in human clothes. 🙂 we loved the Air Bud movies, so I imagine we will like this as well.
