Thanks to GUND for providing me with product in exchange for review. All opinions belong to me.
I believe that pretend play can be one of the best forms of play for children of all ages. Using dolls or similar objects can be an important role in pretend. I think pretend play helps children to better understand situations and feelings without their own feelings interfering with the learning. I read a book a while back on gentle parenting and one of the ways that was described to teach a child a very difficult lesson was through skits acted out by stuffed animals.
My husband and I find that we are the most fun and creative when playing pretend with the kids. We get the chance to hear the kids wildest thoughts and stories in form of a “play”. I have quite a few cherish play times that revolve around this sort of pretend play and laughter. While dolls can be an easy great way for this play to happen my husband and I have found that realistic movements of puppets has been so hilarious and emotional as well.
GUND hand puppets are a great basic hand puppet for children to begin to learn with. Children are able to make relative emotional and situational gestures with the GUND hand puppets. These hand puppets have been great for teaching lessons like sharing, stranger danger, and so much more. The GUND hand puppets have also been great for silly fun tea parties, dance parties and as lovey toys as well.
I received Bandit the dog, Clarance the fish, Hamlet the pig, and filmier the frog. We loved the names these puppets came with so much they are the ones most used in play. I think we each have our favorites to play with but the fish would be the one my husband and I are always wanting to use. Your hand fits fully inside the fish with a lot of body action included into the puppet. The others puppets from GUND are all a more basic spread hand format to control the mouth and hands of the characters.
These puppets have been so great that we have decided a puppet should be bought for each major holiday!
I am a stay at home mother of two, who loves to create in every form, from cooking, to henna, to painting or sculpting, creating with my hands is my passion! I love to dance and let loose when the music flows right. Being outside is a special kind of therapy I think humans need more of as well as mindfulness! I love all things new and adventurous and am always looking to experience more of life 🙂
